Have you heard the phrase, "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions?" I always interpreted this to mean, that while our actions might have had a positive intent, the end result was not so positive.

I liked the spin you put on this saying. I enjoyed reading this.

HI Author,

I thought this was a wonderful 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' story.' it reminds us of the important things in life, whatever they may be.

I found this story to be free flowing and well written, it reads nicely and is a good entry to the conpetition,

Good luck,
Jules

This is a lovely story and one to which I can definitely relate on multiple levels. I have a difficult time reviewing and rating pieces that are about religion because I have embraced it in my life and choose not to describe this relationship on FS. And, I hate it when others try to shove something down my throat that is already in my soul. But, you got to the heart, most honestly in this piece. Kudos to you! Sue

sgalletti, thank you for such an honest review. I'm glad that this spoke to you.

If I can just say, please let me know if I ever write something that comes accross as me trying to force my faith on someone else. I try to post because I need imput before using my poetry, songs, or stories in another areas and I value the perspective and reviews of the writers here.

Thank you again for your honesty.

Interesting use of contest theme but less of a story and more of a personal awakening. In either case it was well written and easy to read and understand. Flow was good. Good luck on the contest.

Thank you for the review. The contest said the packaging was up to the writer but the proverbs should be unambiguous, so I wanted to be creative in the presentation. I hope readers see it as that. Thank you for the comments. I'm glad you felt the flow was good and the stroy understandable. I appreciate your review.

Excellent essay on your thoughts on this writing prompt. I think fear makes lots of people (including me) not do things they want to do. Since this is a contest entry, I have one suggestion. The following sentence seems awkward to me:
Several years back my uncle, who was dying, stayed with my parents for a month.(What about changing it to Several years back, my dying uncle stayed with my parents for a month.)
Good luck.

You took this prompt in a completely different direction than expected. Well done. Fear is a big part of life...we all have different ones, but they all end up selling ourselves or God short. I really appreciate the message of your story, a very inspirational writing. I like the use of the first person writing on this. It seems I am in a conversation and I actually respond in recognition of my own behavior...very thought provoking. Good entry. Wish you the best in the contest. JudithMarie

Excellently written. I have thoroughly enjoyed this moral lesson. You tell it well and strongly with good mental images painted on my mind's blank canvas. Pat.

Good for you to finally overcome that fear and reap the good outcome in your uncle. Actually you remind me much of myself. Sometimes our fear would seem as indifference. Let us strive be better...

Katie,

You write like a professional. You introduced your
piece nicely with honesty about your own fears. You
then gave personal examples regarding that statement.
I liked your phrase 'lens of faith'

I think that so many people can relate to the fear
that binds us and sometimes keeps us from sharing
the good news with others or showing His love with
our actions. The testimony about your uncle was also
very good.

I also liked the way that you summed up your piece
and how you tied in that necessary line.

Very well done!
Linda

Linda, thank you for your humbling words. I wrestled with this one. My mom had to read it and chop it up a bit before it clicked. I'm glad it made sense to you. I am happy with the end result, but I was wondering if I would ever get there. I appreciate you comments VERY much. Blessings, Katie

Interesting take on this contest. It never occurred to me to take it as all the things I plan to do - the good intentions - are the road to hell. You see it as the not doing being the road to hell.

Best of luck in the contest, and thanks for entering.

Regards, anabelle
