Another remarkable poem with extraordinary insight and wit. There was one line I had to re-read a few times because I was confused at first:

'But said his death was still
Too painful to talk about.'

It wasn't clear that the rat had died - it's obvious enough from the line, but I did get confused, so wonder if there was some way earlier on to mention that the rat was either sick or had died?

Wow.. This is really interesting. I read it a few times and contemplated your meaning.

So I asked him about his wheelchair
And he said it was all too easy
To come by such conveniences.
All anyone had to do was
Crash their motorcycle into a tree
And if they happened to survive
They could win a free chair
And never have to walk again.
----these lines are very poignent. Is any of this true?

the dude is real. the conversation is fictional. whether he would have said it that way is a mystery because he died before i could ask him. but it was well known that he mourned his beloved rat more than the loss of his legs (or so he made it seem to the outside world), so i don't think i'm too far off. Thanks for the feedback. I am glad you liked it. M:)

Interesting concept! I liked the flow and the humour of the poem. Good work - its nice to see something fairly light hearted.

Very good, it's clever how you switch from object to person and back again, very poetic with imagination.
It's good of you to remember this dude and write a lovely poem about him even tho you didn't really know him, well done, I can imagine he can hear everything you have said about him.
Good luck and best wishes Rudy.
