Thank you for your kind comments. The letter to the editor part came straight from the newspaper posting. Maybe they did some editing for me, because I know I'm capable of big time boo-boos.

Thanks Anabella - It was a difficult time for me, but guess what? I got through it just fine. I've never regained the salary level or so called "prestige" of that job, but am doing fine and still live with my best buddy.

Hi Shirley - Losing a job after the age of 50 is tough (I was 54). While I've never gotten back to the salary level or so called "prestige" of that job, I'm fine. I also still live with my best buddy, so life is good!

Unfortunately though, times have changed. Many over 50 years old have lost they jobs and are finding it impossible to find employment, then to make things worse, the republicans fight every unemployment extension. The bottom result is thousands are losing everything and are becoming homeless. Thus - for many - death would be welcomed.

Jonathan - I hope things look up for you. I was 55 when I lost my job. I've never regained the level of salary, or the so called "prestige" of the old job. I find that I can get by on a lot less money, still find joy in life and live with my best friend. Good luck to you my friend!

I appreciated your words. I, too, lost my job. I found my family, friends, and time to write again. I enjoyed the format of a story followed by a request for prayer outside yourself. Totally biographical. It was a tough time for me. I've never reached the compensation or "prestige" of that job in 7 years. I sure am happy though and continue to live with my best friend. Thanks for reading - you know I always enjoy your work!
