deepwater, a very moving piece and a unique style of writing you have. This well describes what goes on in many a soldiers heart and mind. It is usually hard for me to view religious pieces, especially about war and soldiers, but none-the-less, brilliantly written and poignant in its own right..bravo to you..jlsavell

This is so poignant and heartfelt. The
faith flows throughout the poem and so
does the love. I love the term, "fields
of stone." the imagery is great because
of lines like that. Perfect words,
creatively written. And most important
to me,it's easily understood. Great job

The words of the poem are very moving and filled with emotion. The soldier going off to war is holding onto his faith and memories.
This is well written and the words flow softly and smoothly carrying this reader along on a sad but necessary journey.

Beautifully written poem though very sad.
He has a few days to be with family and
has to go back to those Fields of Stone.

I can feel the battle raging and the poet reaching out to God for help. Thank the Lord he brought you home to be with your wife and kids. Those "fields of stones" hold many heroes who didn't come home. Great job on this lovely poem! Mary Ann

Good poem, GW. The fields of stone metaphor is powerful and your portrait of a soldier going off to war unsure of his fate but firm in his belief that God's will shall be done is poignant.
One suggestion...in line four, dropping the word "over" makes for better meter and smoother flow.

Isn't it interesting that Jesus is called "the chief corner stone". I would rather be fighting in far off lands than here in my back yard.

Well written poem about the soldiers going to war and those who may never return... so take hold of God his anchor firm, as He controls all life and storms...
a great line depicting the power of God as He administers life and war...
