"Only to survive to see another moonlit night alone," - Loved this line so much! I think it speaks both to the day to day struggle and also the hope that maybe, eventually, those moonless nights won't be faced alone.

"And to be able to say, I am my best friend," - Are you certain you need the first "to" in this line? It feels redundant to me and the line reads smoother without it. Just something to consider.

Thank you for sharing.

Excellent and well crafted free verse that flows easily all the way to the end. Your message is present well by the accompanying picture.

This was lovely. Few people ever sound as content as the words in this piece. The picture complemented your words nicely too. Terror

This a great summation of a life well spent. Your message flows consistently throughout and represents real emotions that are easy to identify with. Well Done.

A very well written poem. Your words flow well and the message clear and easy to understand. I especially like the late line of living a life that was your own choice. Very true :)

The author is writing about loving oneself and loving life and being independent. WE are encouraged to go "as a pilgrim" and be ready to meet difficulties.

In spite of our need for company and friends, we have to occasionally be alone with our thoughts. This is our own time for meditation and introspection.

If we are self-reliant, then even in old age we can be content knowing that we went through life without impositions.

We all seek to find ourselves in different avenues. It takes a lot of courage to let loose and search in unknown avenues not sure of what is around the corner, but at the end of the day, it feels good to know you did it your way.

deepwater: your words are always a soothing salve to my soul. They lift me up above the daily disturbances even as they seek deeper meaning and understanding. Keep writing and this poet will keep reading. Linda

profound statements are eye openings
to me Deepwater. This is more profound
than most. I also like the simplicity
of the posting and the clear presentation.
Know thyself and thy expectations, is
the best advice. Eric
