I love the free verse in this piece and the picture as well. This piece could apply to anyone in search of something, but I'm guessing it's a military reference. Well done, thanks for sharing.

This was a lot of fun to read. Very original, kept my curiosity up. A different style then what I usually see, and that is refreshing. Nothing wrong here I just couldn't understand the meaning of the large ship.

I enjoyed reading this poem. The message is a very good one, and you put it across in a way that is not at all preachy. I particularly like the last three lines. I will be bookmarking this one for sure! Good work!

The heartfelt words of this poem are so strong that I can hear them being shouted above the wind and waves of life's tumultous seas. They sound as if they should be cried out with the spirit of those who must stay ashore as their friends and fathers take to the sea.

Then will you be at peace with yourself - a pertinent question. How many of us can respond in the affirmative to this one?

Food for thought, indeed.

Sonali

And (be) able to say, I am my best friend, ('to' not required)

Then will you be at peace with yourself ... since this is a question, you might need a question mark somewhere in this stanza - at the end, perhaps?

I like the structure of this free verse poem. It flowed very smoothly. I think, this is a great poem about going out on your own and finding your own path. Good message!
Great job Deepwater!

'The Quest" speaks in terms of free will, goals, being sociable and the essence of meditation. It equates survival with triumph,... such as you find when your choice brings you fulfilment.

'Seeking intimate wealth in the company of friends' - a very wise comment - much more important than materialistic wealth.

'Only to survive to see another moonlit night alone' - very sad but true for many who have experienced much in life. At least they have their memories.

Cheers, Ray

Yes, it is so important to live life on our own terms. Far too often we play the roles life gives us. I call this living authenticity. Great write, my friend~Debbie
