This is one of those poems that make me want to scream:" yes, yes, yes..." or something like that. The ending is a perfect surprise that wraps the whole story up just right. I love it.

Bees do indeed feed our world - and I know that you are only having some fun, for it is so accident. They are part of the perfect plan. A very reflective tanka on a topic dear to my heart. For thousands of years, bees have taken care of man, without giving him a second thought - Now, we must take care of them - or we all will be in great peril. Rose.

This poem had a touch of Spring in it and it was also very informative. Nothing like a little bit of science to start my day. Enjoyed it.

Hi Brooke Even without the great artwork your words show a lovely picture. I love the word 'serendipity' I'm not quite sure about 'sloppy' Cheers Gaye

Thank you, Gaye - I love "serendipity" too - the "sloppy" is meant to be funny since the pollen falls off their bodies as they flit about. Brooke :-)

Hi Brooke Thanks for explaining I must watch around my garden for 'sloppy' bees.
Cheers Gaye

Perfect in every way, as far as I can tell. I especially like the 'serendipity' line. That's just wonderful! And of course, the line "crumbs that feed the multitudes" makes the reader think of Jesus feeding the five-thousand with a few loaves of bread. A miracle, in both instances.
Clever and well written and thoughtful.

I like the "merry" feeling of this work. I could almost see the pollen dripping from the bees legs as they wondered from plant to plant. Great. ann

A very nice tanka poem. I had to giggle that the insects feed our world but so true. You used great flow, imagery and rhythm with this lovely poem.

Brooke, I love your tanka and its theme. God help us if the bees disappear. I read somewhere recently that bees are in deep trouble, not because they are dying off for the usual reasons, but because they can no longer find their way home. In an experiment, a cell phone was left in a garden, which confused the bees to such an extent, they lost their direction. One cell phone! How many cell phones in the world? Scarey. Cheers, Kelly

I hadn't even heard of the cell phone twist! I know they've been disappearing - gee, progress always has a price to pay. Thanks so much, Kelly. Brooke :-)

Ah, the pragmatic attitude of nature. One creation benefits another, even in its lack of grace. Excellent tanka. Best of luck in the contest. Blessings, Linda
