Here it is Christmas and I am scrolling through your Easter poetry. No matter, we should praise Him all the days of our life. I love the passion flower illustration and your strong message of faith.

My former pastor always had banners in the church on both Easter and Christmas, one with a stylized picture of a manger on it, the other the cross, because each day relates so closely to the other. Thanks so very much, Jean :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke,
What a beautiful poem to begin my day with. This was the last one I'll read before getting ready for work. I'm glad it was yours. Have a great day, Samantha

This is such a beautiful poem, Brooke, when Jesus gave his last breath to us. you say it so well.

Excellent descriptive verse with smooth flow and rhyme.

Best wishes,
Malcolm

Brooke,

This is a really beautiful poem to commemorate Good Friday and all that Christ did for us when he died on the cross. I don't think the poem works completely with the anapestic feet. To read it aloud and purposely try to read it with those accents, it comes out really awkward and is a difficult read. But without trying to read the poem in this way, just reading it as a poem without concerning myself with all the accents, it has a beautiful flow and rhyme scheme. I love the way this poem expresses the hope brought about by Good Friday, as opposed to to doom and gloom idea of Good Friday. The line, "Resurrection begins with the faith of this prayer," is such an accurate example of faith, I absolutely love it as the close for this poem. The picture is beautiful, and the coloring is very symbolic of the royal purple colors. Great work on this terrific piece.

Thanks so much, Teresa, for your kind review - when I read it aloud, the anapestic feet work naturally for me - obviously at some point we are reading it differently :-) I appreciate your looking past that. Brooke

Brooke, This is a beautiful poem, perfectly crafted and presented with the symbolic passion flower. Thank you for your description of anapestic meter which is new to me. It helped me, in the reading, to place the accent where you intended it to be. Kelly

I thought 666 was the mark of the devil but,
hey, if you've added another six it might
be twice as devilish... hold on... right,
that's the mark of the beast, which is not
the Devil but his crony (Dick Cheney?
Obama? The Pope? who knows!).
Most of the insiders know that Easter is
a fabulously pagan holiday usurped by the
Catholic church because, let's face it,
while having themselves an amazing array
of fantastical props to control and mystify
their sheep, they have also the tendency to
steal or borrow forever other traditions
to make sense of their own ritualistic
jargon.
Still, an excellent faith poem, not overtly
self-indulgent or preachy like some I've
read here. Those get 4 stars every time...
lol!
Having said that it's time to go hunt for
colored eggs.
Have a good one! fish
