I so remember that song! Vacation Bible School and church youth groups -- brings back a lot of good feeling. Great poem that shares so much peace and hope. ann

Dear Brooke,
Your message is strong and clear and I can well imagine you at a Freedom Rally, singing this iconic song. As ever, the execution of your work needs no comment, but, just to make you happy, I'll say it is perfect.
Regards
Reg

Hi Brooke, I've been a little negligent of my messages lately; busy doing other things. I'm always glad to see another of your poems. This picture of the perfect rose developed by the light of God is lovely, and also your note that compares the rose to our lives if we live in His light. We as writers and poets have a perfect opportunity to let our lights shine, and you do it through your beautiful expressions and poems. Thank you. Best Blessings! Marjie

This is an especially lovely poem to enjoy during the spring and Easter season, Brooke. I especially like the last verse. The message comes through very clearly, but your author notes are always appreciated. Beautiful! Mary

I love the line about the seeds storing just enough sun to set themselves on the path. This is beautifully written, Brooke, and it's a form I'm not even going to try, with those repeating lines!

Thank you, Mike - I just checked on your serial killer again, and nothing is happening. Are you still moving forth with that one? Brooke :-)

I had to look up the word demure in the dictionary;). I love the message you shared in the poem and your author notes..yes, the border line between being proud and acknowledging and using the gifts we have for God's glory is really thin. Anyhow, we are NOT supposed to hide the gifts (bury them in the ground), like the story of the Master and his talents in the Bible.

Thank you, Fransiska - yes, it is a fine line and one people have to learn how to distinguish :-) Brooke

The bud as it stands by itself, brings an independant feel and a glow around it. I love this picture, so perfect for the poem. The little buds can't wait to sprout as they look about.

Love this poem and I sing "This Little Light Of Mine" to this day. It was one of the songs I was taught at a time I could barely speak English. Brought back memories.

Upon each bud God's love is poured,
Brooke, I'm reviewing from Milan, Italy. There are 2 cherry trees with thousands of buds blooming just outside the hotel. This title and poem brings to mind how much love God must have when I think of these two trees alone.

no need for rose to be demure
I like this line. When I think of a person named Rose, I do think of them being demure BUT when I think of the flower, rose, it's vibrant in colour, rich in velvety texture, lush in its multi-layers "petticoats" petals. Definitely an attention grabber and its beauty cannot be denied.

My favourite verse is the last one. You have made this more of a universal theme, stretching beyond the buds in flowers. Each of us is a seed and we have the potential, "some sun" to grow to "full heights". Even if we do not grow to "full height", if we try, I believe we can grow to be a height to be of inspiration to others in our small ways. This is how we let our "little light shine."
