Yes Brooke, a penguin is always a pleasure to know
Excellent in descriptive content.
Lovely flow, and a very helpful notes
You crafted these words nicely

Tell me if this is the message or if it's a trick question with multiple answers. I get; even if you are a flightless bird, you can still look good swimming in a tuxedo. Do I get extra points?? Nice one. You probably know I'm a penquins fan, and I don't even like hockey. Mike

I have sat in that same spot and watched these guys (as a child, and then again as adult with my own chidren)--and right you are! I love your 'tobagganing'--super strong verb. :)

Behold the human, stumbling
in an alley full of needles,
wheedling an existence
from the ground.

Behold the human, stalking
through the sunbeams on the beach,
littering disgust
with solid frowns.

Mike

Yeah, another enjoyable, but full of insight poem. To me this poem reminds me that each one of us is special. We have our own unique gifts and talents...who said that we have to be smart, or beautiful, or wrinkless:)? Thanks, Brooke:)

I love your poem! I have always been taken with doing exactly what you said - watching the penguins. They have a small enclosure at the zoo in Columbus, so it's not as easy to watch them. But back in Chicago they had a wonderful area where I would do as you said and sit for hours just watching penguins and drawing sketches of them. They are a lot of fun, and they are another creature that reminds me of God. As you say, "who says each bird must be in flight?" The ostrich and emu interest me in the same way.

I like your rhyme in this quatrain. It would have taken me quite a while to come up with waddles/toddles.

Great work on your poem, and that's a very cute picture, too! I'm glad I decided to try some reviewing tonight! This is a bad time of year for me, so you'll hear from me sporadically. I have had a type of rheumatoid arthritis along with the regular old arthritis, and these weather shifts and rainy days swell up my hands and make it nearly impossible to type someimtes. But here it is, 3 a.m., and for the first time in two days I can get my fingers to work! I'm so glad I did, if for no other reason than to see the penguins!

The penguins are amusing animals and this is an amusing poem that made me grin. The artwork you chose was quite fitting. I love that you use the word tobogganing.

Those black and white creatures are a pleasure to watch. They waddle and walk and seem to struggle with their steps. I am sure they know exactely what they are doing though. Cute poem and a pleasure to read.

You've done a great job here portraying these clowns of the ice and their wonderful antics. I laughed as I read this because they are my favorite thing to watch when I go to the zoos as well. Thanks for a fun bit of whimsy!
