Jan, I love the sculpture and the poem you've written to complement it - I'm so glad they managed to save it.
I could just hear this man speaking in his dialect and feel the spirit of freedom he felt playing outside with nature's chorus, no roof or floor to box him in. And the message of the final verse is downright delightful. Besides the content, your poem is well-composed with wonderful flow and rhymes. This was a joy to read, my friend. Brooke :-)

Thankyou my friend, I am delighted that you enjoyed the read. I just wish you could see this place, because I thought of you when I was there. It has such a magical feel about it and the artist's love of nature and the human spirit is evident everwhere. We were so relieved that many of the pieces were saved. I just wish the battery on my camera hadn't died before I could take a photo of all the pieces! You know, he has even used some of the huge gum trees that were uprooted by the force of the fire; turned them upside down and sculptured the roots to make a picture. Amazing! Maybe you could google it. It's called Bruno's garden and it's in Marysville, Victoria. Thanks again, regards, Jan

Thankyou for your positive feedback Aqua Lake, it is much appreciated. The poem was actually written for the photo which I took myself, when we visited this magical garden on Thursday. Thanks again, regards, Jan

Janelle... sounds a bit cockney, does this old feller! Could he be an old swagman, d'you reckon? Mind you, he's a tad posh for that. I have written a fair bit in broad dialect, I enjoyed this read... I would love to be able to come down under, just to see that place! Pat.

You got it in one Pat! A swagmen, albeit scruffily refined, is what I perceived him to be. I wish you could see this place Pat, it is magical. The artist's love of nature and the human spirit is evidenced everwhere. Perhaps you could google it? It's called Bruno's garden and it's in Marysville, Victoria, Australia, the town that was virtually wiped out during the fires. I hope you do get to come down under for a visit, I'd love to show you around! :) Regards, Jan

As I am pushed to walk more than 25 yards, I reckon I'd have to wait for reincarnation, friend... and as I have it on good authority I'm not coming back again, then I think I shall have to rely on Google! Pat.

I enjoyed reading this. It has a light, lyrical cadence and the misspelled words are a little puzzle to decipher. Fun stuff.
"I loves to play me 'ol pianna" too.
Good job.

Thanks adri7enne, I'm so pleased your enjoyed my poem, especially from your perspective as a pianna playa! :)

The setting for this sculpture is absolutely beautiful and I could feel a poem coming on as soon as I saw it! :) Regards, Jan

I thoroughly enjoyed this bit of humour. It brought good visuals and one could almost be standing ther listening to the pianna player and hearing his thoughts.
Well written and presented. luv jada

Thankyou Jada, I appreciate your positive feedback and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed this whimsical poem. I was a bit concerned that people would balk at the unusual language but the sculpture just screamed scruffy yet refined swaggy to me! Regards, Jan

What a great bit of whimsy and beauty you've written about here! I love it and your authors notes give just enough information without over powering your piece. I think you did a fantastic job creating the dialog this character would've used. Thanks for a fun read.

Thanks Steve, this is a lovely review to receive. I think the sculpture required that kind of dialogue too, as the setting was perfect for a shabby yet refined swaggie, out in the bush enjoying his music. Thanks again, regards, Jan

I really liked this. The picture is perfect and the language adds a special flavor to this lively little poem. Every line adds another aspect to the character of this rather eccentric pianist, building on the imagery of the piece. Good write! geo

First I like the idear of you writing a poem of a sculpture and making up a hole story like it was your own piano you cared so much for. I relly like it!.
I also like how you write wit spelling mistakes to make the personality stronger. Thanx for sharing.

Thanks Annette, I'm glad you enjoyed this piece of nonsense. I was really taken by this sculpture, as well as a number of others and I plan to write a few more on others that I came across in this truly unique garden. Regards, Jan
