It's been awhile since I read one of your poems, I really missed them. This one was a particular delight to read. Always nice to bring out the inner soul.

Brooke, I reviewed this wonderful tanka yesterday but my computer crashed. I wasn't sure if the review went through or not!

There is little I can say except that you are brilliant and multi-talented in all the poetic forms. I just love this.

Hugs
Kat

Kat, I'm so glad you like the poem - and that is sweet of you to review it more than once :-) Speaking of nice things - wasn't it great to see Adele performing in public?? Brooke

She did a grand job and both looked and sounded terrific. All those nerves too! Bless her.

It's perfectly put and well complemented by the lovely picture. You helped me remember that when I was a child I could not for the life of me understand why suburban lawn owners, like my Dad, hated those beautiful flowers with a passion. And they were so special too. You could make necklaces out of them by chaining them together and then wearing them in your hair. You could collect a bunch of their whispy white skeletons and blow wishes into them . Amazing, beautiful, bright yellow, and if you knew how you could even make make wine out of them or eat them as greens. I tried this last one and didn't much care for their bitterness. But to despise them?" I never could get my head around that.

"When treasure was free..." That is put so wonderfully. Another winner, Brooke. Hats off to you. I'm sure you will come home with the fake money in this contest.

Hi Brooke What a lovely 'tanka' the last line certainly summed it up. How your poem brought back memories for me. We had this thing as a child that if you smelt a dandelion you'd wet your bed, therefore there was alway a child rushing up to another trying to get them to smell the flower. Cheers Gaye

Brooke,

they just don't get much better than this, although a nice bass writing does seem to be beyond your ability. lol Great work and an even better piece to read, my friend.

HA! I absolutely loved this one... the ugly little flower that only a child's eyes could truly appreciate, that child that lives inside all of us and who every now and then runs through our memories leaving dandelion dust in it's wake and a smile on our faces. Wonderful imagery you have created in so few words. This was truly a pleasure to read. I am so glad that spring is on the way... I can't wait to see more of your writing such as this. Many blessings.

Would'nt we love to once again feel the carefree fredom that onlly a child can have. As we get older life becomes so complicated and try as we might we can never go back.

I am not one for structure but I do like this piece as it, combined with the picture bring a present feeling to me. I like when poetry makes me feel a certain way because of the words that are used sometimes.I didn't get much emotion out of it but I think that is just how structured poems like this are. Alot of the emotion is lost. Still I like this peice because it was really well done.

Thank you, Gravi - I'm pleased you could get something out of this even though poetry forms like the tanka are not your thing. Brooke
