Congratulations on winning the contest. Well deserved. Nicely contructed and presented. The artwork couldn't have fit any better. You have truly captured what it is to be a skier.

Well done. The aerials are truly impressive.

I loved "Unfolding awe" and

"Arms emulating soaring wings

Poets of gravity"

Wonderful phrasing there.

"In the Olympic Games" I thought was irrelevant to the general thought behind the poem.

Also, "They fly upside down and twirl six feet up" seemed a little flat.

Overall, well done. Congratulations on the win. Keep writing.

Thank you for the comments. "They fly upside down and twirl lide a child." Reading your comments that phrase came to me. if you have time, what do you think.
reply by Colin Douglas on 28-Feb-2010
Much, much better. If you can, then, change the first part of the sentence to something that is also what a child would do, that would be perfect.

I really like your comments in this rictameter, the first one I wrote. Now, if I could only write a rhyming poem!

How well you have captured the essence of
these athletes who perform so brilliantly
upon a sheet of white and who have the
ability to make the viewer hold their
breath in wonder. Well done...

Very creative words written here. I loved the way how the writer has written these words and very worthy of the first prize within the competition.

Nicely done. It's amazing the things that they can do. I always liked to watch them as a kid, but I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to try some of the stunts they do! ;)

Probably everything has already been said about this, but I just wanted to ad my two-cents worth--nice imagery.

To amanda,
A Rictameter poem that addresses the Olympics. The dare devil stunts and acrobatics of some and the speed of others and grace in others that they carry themselves make them all champions in their own right.

I love how you compared the poetry to the skier. The pic is beautiful. It fits the poem beautifully. Thank your for sharing.
