That's one of the hardest things to deal with. My first husband died of cancer, but he told everyone it wasn't that bad, so I was the bad person when I called them all to come, because they said he died because I didn't believe he could beat it. Not an easy thing no matter what. Great job.

People can be so cruel. I recently lost students because I had to start my classes a little later because, I was, in of all places, the hospital. Let's hope this narcissistic trend in society wears off soon. Thanks for a good review.

using 'she did' twice and 'I did' once

you were able to be with her in her last

Using "did" as an auxiliary verb is a very Southern thing and my family is very Southern. Thanks for a good review.

My mother asked me every two weeks
to drive to Arizona from California
to see her.
After two days, my sisters would ask me to leave--
they said I was upsetting the household,
so I left.

I'm completely uneducated where poetry is concerned, so ignore me if I'm out in left field, but this read more like prose to me than poetry.

Families experience loss in different ways.
Your poem speaks of your place in the family when your dear Mother died.
How generous you were to leave your own life and spend her last days, doing all she needed so she could leave.
Beautifully crafted, filled with such pain.
