I think daffadowndilly instantly made me smile. The very word feels yellow and fun. This shadorma was well painted to flow and bash a quick image of the longing for spring without using the words spring or 'im waiting'

Lemony Daffadowndilly, as whimsical a name as names can be, was also the name of my first date. It was 8th grade and we had a local DJ come spin records at an after school dance. Not very romantic at 3:30 in the afternoon. We danced to Dizzy by Tommy Rowe. Do you remember that one? We went for a stroll in the school yard. Things were going swell until snow from the ledge fell on her head. I remember saying "Lemony, under snow, you will be splendiferous when your petals show. Thanks for the memory. Mike

Good morning, Mike. How are you? Excited that tonight is the first night of live American Idol competition? I do remember Dizzy - I am now singing it right in my living room. Your little anecdote is too wicked. LOL Brooke :-)

Can't wait to see the final 24, cause a couple got bounced off for various reasons. When we get to the twelve that's when the fun begins. Enjoy. Mike

Yes, I do recall that little rhyme - and
your poem is a wonderfully anticipatory
song of spring and its awakening. I shall
always think of you when I see the daffodil.
How wonderfully cheery! Carolyn

Another cute poem, Brooke. I love the word, daffadowndilly. Almost child-like. Daffodils another sign of Spring. Oh it can't come soon enough. :-)
Good presentation, flow and rhyme.
Best wishes,
Malcolm

Oh my goodness, I KNOW that Mother Goose rhyme. Ah, the memories of my childhood. Beautiful artwork, by the way.
I like the poem, but I have to say I LOVE your word choices. It is not often that we can find five syllable words that fit right in - i.e. "daffadowndilly". And then to follow up later with, "splendiferous" to fill out the last four syllables of line five is, as I sometimes and embarrassed to admit saying, "The bees knees".
Hmmm...I think I was just inspired to write a poem about the strange and silly things I say sometimes. After all, "Scootch yer bootch" needs to be immortalized in cyberprint!
Great work on this poem. I'm glad you are showing us how these shadormas are done!

How can I inprove my vocabulary so I can use interesting words like daffadowndilly?:) I do have a dictionary, but how can I know if it is wrong or right to use a certain word in my poem?:) I have a lot to learn from you. Thanks again for this fun poem, Brooke.

Thank you, Fransiska - one of the joys of poetry is that you're given lots of poetic license. And if you ever worry about how a word is used in English, just PM me :-) Brooke
