Loved this, yes rules can wait. They grow far to fast to worry that an extra few minutes in your arms will matter. Just enjoy the moment.

Well done.
You have beautifully described that baby/mother connection.
I especially liked:you seem secure here
even as I am complete
in immeasurable ways
we are bonded in
irrefutable
unconditional
love
Rules can wait
until
tomorrow

Conventional wisdom isn't always right, although I suppose the intent is to ensure that the parent doesn't fall asleep and smother or crush the baby.
I love how you describe the closeness you feel as you lie close to your baby. I could almost smell the baby lotion!

I'm her grandmother but it could certainly work for moms, too. Yes, my daughter grew up way too fast. This is like a second chance for me. love, jan

Some rules were meant to be broken....Especially ones that bond us to our children.
I remember sleeping on the bathroom floor, propped against the wall with the shower running, because my son could breath better that way...
Beautiful poem about precious love....
smiles, Carol

What rule?! Lol. I just loved this poem Jan. It was short, simple and so full of love. It reminded me of what my wife would say when our children were really young:) I loved the ending. Dogz

It's good to see you back, Baroness! How goes the healing of the wrists and so on?
Like the free-verse form of this one; it almost drifts down the page like you're halfway between pondering and nodding off, lol. Curling up for a snooze with the loved one - whether baby, spouse or cat! - is a lovely feeling indeed.
Blessings,
Louise

you are so right. I try to write many of these so people are not always sure about whom I speak while other times I want them to be specific to Miss Lexi-poo. She is 13 months old now and wide open -- walking, running, and into most everything. She thinks no is a foreign language. I will send you some birthday pictures soon. Hands/wrists are much better but will never be 100% again, especially in fine motor area; however, I can take care of Lexi and type so life is good. I am seeing a chiropractor once a week (after 3 months of twice a week)in an effort to correct some serious spinal alignment issues. We are making progress which, hopefully, will keep me off the operating table. I have missed L & L! God is good! love, jan
