if you read my profile, you'll know how your inspiring poem embraces me,like a thundering lightning bolt.It was only when in 1997 that I silently pleaded to the heavens above for a miracle, whether I believed or not was inconsequential, all that mattered was that I had asked.

It was then that God had built that bridge which led into my life. The events which followed that could only be attributed to a divine intervention, would continue for the following seven years,at which time I started to cross that bridge.

I have always been at struggle for expression and purpose within my life, but I'm coming to understand that a person made complete in Christ will first be emptied of all pride and self sufficiency. It's then that a welcomed silence will embrace our souls, through which now the Holy Spirit can gain an unobstructed entrance, and it's then that God's voice will be heard. Then through His very instruction we will gain our form of expression and purpose...

Warm regards

I am so encouraged by your review. Isn't it amazing how God puts believers together for support, even if it's just for a moment, and from different places? He si so COOL! I'm going to come back to this and really read it later (your review), and then check your portfolio. Happy Ressurection Day! Deb

I love this child's musings - when God speaks to me, will he sound like Grandpa when we take a walk? or will He sound like booming thunder? Your quatrains flow well and have strong abcb rhyming, and I love the conclusion when Mommy tells the child God might not have any of those voices because you "hear" him speak directly into your heart. This is simply wonderful :-) Brooke

Thanks so much, Brooke. It was nice to pop over here and find a review, since it's been so painfully long since I've been able to write here! Appreciate your comprehensive review, and kind comments. Blessings, D

Thank you so much for the rating and review. I'm honored, and pleased that you enjoyed the poem. Delivered it to the little ones this morning, and no one moved throughout the entire read. He is a good God, andit's such a cool thing to write about and for Him. I can't imagine why He chooses to use us, as frail and spiritually retarded as we can be sometimes! Thanks again, Deb

excellent,,,I think the children will love this piece of work to go along with their lesson on the burning bush,,,I also like how you have the little one questioning how he will know when he hears god and his mother tells him it's already happening right in his heart...

Thanks so much. I think we all have a time when we want to hear God, not realizing that even that longing is Him calling to us. Appreciate your comments. Be blessed, Deb

MamaDeb-

I really enjoyed this - a rather simplistic expression of many of the questions we have re: our faith at many times in our lives. Even in my advancing years, I still have great appreciation for someone who can write inspirationally without me having to sit there and try to translate the message! Like I said, very, very nice!

Best wishes,

Yankee (Indelible)

I THINK IT'S WONDERFUL - YOU KNOW - GOOSE BUMPS. Goodness I think God was talking to you as you wrote this poem - for sure. Maybe God talks to us in all those ways. I do think though, He also speaks words we understand, too.

You are one special kind of lady. I really think I do like you - lots - and your schmardt as well. You sound so alive.

Write some more of this kind of things! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! I wish I had a 6'er, it's really a 10.

Marge

Are you back to teaching school?

Don't know how schmardt I am -- took me 5 minutes to figure out what that word was!! :) Ha!

I agree that God does speak verbally to us, through so many sources. Good friends, for example. Tried to work that one in, but since the rest of it was flow and that one was 'work', I decided it was my verse, and didn't really belong in there at all.

I have to get back to torture now ... er, uh, mmm .... work, now. I'm telling you Marge, if my sister EVER takes another contract like this one and lays it on my desk I may SHOOT HER! Probably not, but I may at least THINK about it. This is a terrible job, doesn't pay enough, and I told her not to bid on it for the amount she did. But she did, we're partners and so it goes. But I am looking forward to taking a truly stupid contract and making HER do half the work! :)

    Later, Deb

MamaDeb,
What a wonderful spiritual poem. A well written poem. I like the last stanza the best:

She's proud that I'm listening,
Says that's a good start,
'Cause God's already whispering
Straight into my heart.

Great title you choose "When God Speaks to Me." Very enjoyable poem and kids would like and understand your words.
Melissa,

Well, I think this is a great way to teach children.

However, I am laughing so hard, I can barely sit on the couch.

I suspect you mean desert sand and not dessert sand, although I'll bet the kids would like the idea of dessert in the poem.

In this line:

May not speak to my ear

I believe would be better as:

May not speak in my ear

FYI - Your notes are good - no points off, but have a few typos:

I used to teach Yoga to kids 2-4 at an early start program - part of Head Start. What a challenge working with those precious little souls!

I admire your work with them and think your teaching method is awesome!

I loved teaching Head Start! I had the smartest kids on campus, and loved every minute ofit. I cannot imagine teaching yoga to them, though. Good for you!

Dessert, huh ... hmm ... Yep, that'd be a surprise to ol' Moses, for sure! I'm doing a contract job right now for a cookbook. Wonder if there was perhaps some crossover in the synapses. :) Thanks for an important catch. Wonder if it was banana pudding or apple pie.

Blessings and thanks for a kind review and marvelous sense of humor. Be blessed, Deb

Well, the yoga class was for tots - it was too much fun, yet sometimes sad.

It opened up some things for these little souls and they trusted me so much. Often after class, one or another would settle in my lap, needing help with shoe laces Then they'd look at me and say things like, "I don't like it when my daddy hits my mmomy." Heartbreaking. I'd report it to the teacher to log in their book...

Too funny about the cookbook - perhaps it was a recipe for sand cookies or pecan sandies?

After all, I don't think Moses had access to apples...

I don't know ... Doesn't Psalm tell us that we're the apple of God's eye? Too, too funny with the sand cookies. And pecan sandies are my most favoirte cookie in the worl. Working on a recipe now for a pina colada-y kind of dessert (not desert) with a pecan sandie crust. Have to put it on hold for now, of course; got an email from my current boss, who has decided to completely reformat his dumb recipes! AUGH! Good thing his money is green ... :)

I also freelance - and like the green $$ sooooo much better than the funny money on FS!
