You are having a winter exactly like I am in Iowa. Beautifully worded. Takes some of the pain and depression out of yet another snowy day. Darlene

Hi Brooke Once again a lovely poem full of hope. I like the picture of the 'Robin Red Breast' we don't have them in our side of the world. I first saw one on the 'Isle of Skye'

Cheers Gaye

thank you, Gaye. You have so many animals and birds we don't have - seems only fair we have one good one you don't. LOL Brooke

Now here I am all surly about two feet of snow on the ground and you have given me this wonderfully uplifting poem. It is a picture of hope (including the picture of the beautiful first robin) for those of us who are still trying to dig out. Now about the human sacrifice....LOL

"I won't surrender or become undone," is a fantastic line. It really gives the reader the sense that, although things are dark now (maybe not just in weather, but in life), we can hold on to our senses, knowing it's not forever.

Great work once more!!!!

I'm not at all happy about all the snow either - I'm overjoyed that we now have good enough road conditions to drive to the store, bank - I was starting to get major cabin fever. Thanks, my friend :-) Brooke

Dear Brooke,

Well it seems as though this Winter never ends. Here in the UK yesterday saw a bright sunny day the first one for such along time.....yet today we are back to overcast weather with fine rain.
What a lovely read Triumphant Spring is, it brings a little hope for what lays ahead.
You have such a wonderful gift and talent. I find I have neither been writing or reviewing of late, My writing is always brought on by upset and hurt rather than talent....however it has its place as a self help type of therapy.
I am very happy at this moment (so no poetry LOL)but thought I would visit these Fanstory pages to read one of your poems and bring delight.
adewpearl poetry never disappoints, gives food for thought and time for reflection and often gives knowledge in a style of poetry I have not come across.....you are a star Brooke.....Thank you for such poetic gifts.

Steve

PS....Good luck with the snow fall tonight

Thank you, Steve - this was written a few days ago so that snow has come and gone and luckily turned out to be a light one after three extremely huge storms. I so appreciate your most thoughtful and generous review, dear friend. It is always lovely to hear from you, and the six doesn't hurt! LOL Brooke :-)

Your optimism is contagious, but I still feel for you being pounded by another storm. I especially enjoyed your fresh use of "shroud" and your "symphony" metaphor. Each rhyme you chose was beautifully laced into the whole.

Thank you, Joan. Our very last storm turned out to be quite small, thank heavens, considering we've had three huge ones and total accumulation of over 70 inches. Brooke :-)

Pretty amazing--we average 14 inches of rain, but the last few years, it's been about 7--but we need to remember we live in an irrigated desert! -Joan

This poem was written a couple days ago - luckily, that snow was a light one for once. Now we may get more this coming Monday, but I don't think it will be a huge one either as temps are gradually going up. Thanks so much, Nadine :-) Brooke

Triumphant Spring, I'm glad I read your authors notes before replying. I was ready to send you a snoot full of snow. But you added that you are getting another storm too. The white stuff is scheduled to fall everyday for another week. Where's that weasel of a groundhog that predicted another six weeks? I'd like to wring his chubby little neck. It'll be months before these mountains of snow melt, and then there will be flooding. Shesh, you'd think with all this global warming going on, we'd catch a break. Nice poem, can't wait to hear the birds in the morning again. Mike

They keep telling us that it is good we are not getting hotter days because it is preventing flooding should all those mounds of snow get flushed away all at once. Yeah, I think it's time for global warming to rear its ugly little head too!!! :-) Thanks, MIke :-) Brooke

I'm getting out my floatation device and inflating my water wings just in case. The weirdest occurance is happening in my garage. There's two cats, two dogs, two squirrels, two birds, two - - you get the picture. Have a good night it's time for my beauty rest. Mike

A fine poem in rhyme and rhythm.
In my part of the world, everyone is ready for spring.
It is easy to see why you were named poet of the year.
Best wishes,
Dearl

You poor people are really getting slammed this year. I saw a robin red breast today, but wasn't quick enough to photo. Maybe that is a good sign for us all. I hope you guys are ok up there. joan marie

Thank you, Joan - this past snow turned out just to be an inch so that was good news - after over 70 inches this winter so far. :-) Our Phillies are starting spring training in FL, so now our local news is talking about FL a lot :-) Brooke

We have the Pittsburgh Pirates that winter here in Bradenton. It's cold here, but no snow. Remember when this was only a summer sport? jm

every sport's season has gotten longer so that football and baseball practically overlap now :-)

I love spring and I am an avid bird watcher so for me the choice of subject and your handling of it was fantastic. One of the things I really appreciate about this site is the variety of poetry types and voices that I am being exposed to and leaarning from; thanks for being one of them.
