Thank you, Jan. I appreciate your taking the time to review a piece no longer promoted :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke,
Good grief - it's about the joy of literature, no the $!!! (The latter is nice, but...)
Thanks again for sharing. :)

It is lovely when people think that way - not everyone does :-)

Aw, thanks, Brooke. True, but not where I'm coming from. I love the art form and you take it to another level! Oh heck, when I had more time, it was not at all uncommon for me to "inhale" an entire porti over a period of several hours, just reading and reviewing for the joy of it. (But high-quality work!) Why not? People don't receive monetary compensation for reading books, do they? Shaking head...
Thanks again,
Jan

"Sparkling assassins"!! What absolute killer imagery! (pun intended). And one of the most powerful satori's I've ever seen! You really nailed this Haiku Brooke. Please accept a very virtual six, as for some reason, this site won't let me give you one. (?)
Cheers and smiles for a quick Spring!
Katherine.

Brooke,
Your haiku is in wonderful form and your satori is so strong and original. I have never thought of snow being referred to as 'sparkling assassins' but you really have captured one real aspect of snow there.

Thank you, Linda. This snow was an unusually wet and heavy one, not the pretty fluffy stuff. It has killed many power lines and trees. Brooke :-)

You are welcome Brooke!

Great. I love that last line in particular as I thought of the tree in my front yard, one limb broken in the latest heavy snow. Good read. ann

How clever! I love your fun word choices. Nice alliterations and vivid picture in my mind.
'Sparkling assassins' will stay with me for some time. :)
Love it!
The snow we received the last few days is so beautiful. It takes my breath away. I know you are tired of it (HA-HA) but we get it so rarely that it is a treat. Thankfully, we didn't get enough to 'crush boughs' though.
Hugs

Thank you, Nic. Glad you enjoyed the satori about our killer snow.
We usually get the light fluffy snow, but this time was the super heavy wet kind that simply breaks trees and power lines in half. Brooke

I liked this image, and attributing the beautiful violence of nature... to have subtle killers starting as tiny flecks of frozen water. Flows really nice.

Thanks, Turtle. Yesterday I got out for the first day since the storm and saw way more of the destruction of the trees. It was ugly and sad. Brooke

Very creative haiku, with terrific words and images.
I like the black and white of the beautiful snow becoming an assassin.
Very well done.

Hullo Brooke ...
What a lovely idea you have here, describing the clumps of snow as assassins of the branches of trees.
Your words provide a most appropriate caption for the picture at the top.
Thank you for sharing this with us. As it is a Contest entry, i wish you well.
With love from .... Nanette Mary.

Thank you, Nanette Mary - I finally got out today and saw far more of the destruction of the trees. These clumps of snow are very deadly assassins indeed. Brooke

dear Brooke, as you know, I'm not an expert or a big fan of these short forms because mostly, they don't 'get' me. However, this really has got me -- I think the line "sparkling assassins" is the clinch. great writing, my friend. Good luck in the contest, although I'm sure you won't need it.
Hugs

Thank you, Kat. You should see the aftermath of this storm. Huge branches just snapped off like twigs and the branches all lying in a mess on the snowy ground. I got out for the first time in a week today, and I saw more of the damage. I almost cried at the dirty work those assassins did. Brooke

Thank you, Jean. That is the kind of snow that I love - not too much of it and there only long enough to be pretty for a short while! :-) Brooke
