Oh yes ... I understand this one completely. There are those times, that perhaps amount to a full day, where staying "within" is exactly where we belong so as not to go without for very long, right? excellent Amada!

Thank you Judian! I am "out" for a while to read what's new fanstory. Best therapy!
Comment from Ensiferum
Sometimes I feel the exact same way, like there is nothing out there for me and the best place to be is within. The line 'Time to honor the complex simplicity of my inner clock' was great.

Thank you Ensiferum for liking that clock symplicity metaphor.
Comment from Perp Ihebom
This is so simply worded, but by no means simplistic. Inasmuch as one needs to associate with others for a balanced life, there are still times when solitude is golden. kudos

I think from time to time
we all need that cocoon and yes
I can relate to your words.
With a wife working full time I
have a lot of that time on the days
I'm not caregiving for someone. All I
allow sometimes is soft reflective music
to draw the strings of the cocoon.

Very nice poem. I like the style and the way it is long and tight within the border. The words well wrapped in a cocoon. Closed. Simplicity. Desire to stay in for awhile.

I liked your comment on 'closed simplicity." Thanks!

But don't stay in too long. Winter is too long the way it is. I like the story you tell, and I often feel the same way. I've missed hearing from you. All the best. Ray.

I loved everything about this poem. It tells my story. Even its style. I live in a wonderful cocoon most of the time. What peace. Blessings dear Amada. Barbara

The format in which you presented this really adds to the melancholy feel; as do your words. Thank you for sharing something we all go thru from time to time. D~

I love this one.
Such an apt description:Closed
for wantings
and needs.
Time to honor
the complex
simplicity
of my inner clock.
So
I will stay in
for a while.
The layout, line breaks and syntax are perfect.
Love it.

Very nice poetry, amada! I was struck by your interesting choice of words, and how they contrasted with each other.
Cocoon, old mechanical reel, complex simplicity... These words and phrases evoke some great imagery, all of it different, but all supporting the notion of "staying in"...nice!
Down time never sounded so good. Well done! Thanks for sharing...Jim.
