Hi,Brooke. Great poem. I like the message and the love that is surging through this writing. It has good flow and evokes wonderful feelings as I am reading it. Blessings. Feeling better now and hope to get back into the swing of things soon. Queenise

How absolutely beautiful! No one but a mom knows that every child gets his/her own special place in the heart. There's no need for sibling rivalry because every child is an only child in some special way.
Nice flow, beautiful imagery and good rhyme. I enjoyed. ann

Thank you, Ann - how wonderfully generous of you :-) My children and I have had an ongoing joke forever about which one I love more. LOL Whenever one of them teases me or pisses me off, I tell him/her I love the other one more, at least for the time being. And then the "winner" will taunt the loser. LOL Brooke :-)

Brooke, I love it. A winner for sure. One of my daughters (and her husband) have 10 children, and each one is her favorite. Once someone told her she shouldn't have had so many, and she answered, "Which one shouldn't have been born?" She hears it all the time, along with, "How do you stand having so many. My two drive me crazy."
Isn't her name Miranda? You're so blessed. Lovely tribute. pat

Thank you, Pat. Yes, my little one is named Miranda. I think if your daughter and her husband love their children and enjoy their life together, others should mind their own darned business!!! There are obviously people who should not have ten or even one, but that is a whole other story! :-) Brooke

:) This is so sweet. You already know I love the 'Miranda poems'! I remember that feeling--thw concern for the unborn child. Will I be able to love him/her as much? And we always do.

This is a wonderfully sweet poem about the kind of love that not everyone gets to experience, but if they have, they recognize it. I bet lots of mothers feel this way, that they couldn't love another child the same as the first. But obviously, things turn out differently. Your poem has wonderful rhythm and a great rhyme scheme. I like the way you've ended with the internal rhyme in the longer line. It gives a good emphasis to your message. Great job and good luck in the contest!

Brooke,
You really nailed this one. When my son was two years old, I became pregnant with my daughter. It really worried me that I could never love another child as much as I loved my son. I had three altogether, and even if I had nine I would have loved them all the same. There is nothing like the love you have for your child. You have written so well and so descriptively. It is absolutely perfect. Good luck in the contest, my friend.

Except for a bit of reverse syntax and an adjective to make the perfect rhyme with "around" where an adverb is called for (legitimate poetic license) a wonderful odic acrostic to a daughter.
