Nice words on winter. Congratulations on placing in the contest! Very nicely done, made me feel the chill. It's a cold day here in WI, too.

Is this why I had to shovel my drive four times in the past few days. :I
I thought this poem was really pretty. And I love it when I read a poem and don't realize its an Acrostic until after I look at the title again. It flowed very smooth, without feeling forced to fit with the starting letters of the downward word.

Very nice as an acrostic; none of the line beginnings are forced. I, when in the throws of an idea, sometimes find myself speaking to myself with the same meter and quasi-Shakespearian tones as this. Anything that makes me think I sound like the Bard works for me....
As for you, yes, this poem works for me. It captures well the mortal railing against the capricious gods. And the snow is still coming....
Best Wishes,
Calanatan

Over the side of the grassy knol grazed a great white stalion named Olympus. It was the quest of many a man to mount Olympus. With the speed of Zephyr winds, Olympus was not to be caught nor tamed. Only Aeolus, God of the winds was able to control the mighty beast and make him but a gentle breeze. I believe that to be a true story, even though your heart was in the right place to challenge the weather and rid us of the wintery blast that has been a festering pain in our backs shoveling the white stuff. Hope you stayed warm through it all. Mike

Mike, I have not been out since it started - tomorrow I need to shovel out my car and get to the post office to get a freelance job returned to a client before we get new snow Tuesday night! Yuck. Thanks, little brother :-) Brooke

Drive carefful, it was nice today with some sun and 25 degrees. Almost a heat wave. More snow for us too coming. Double yuck. Mike

Erode the errors of the few
who blew your tempest's judgement through
the pillars of creation's dam
until it slammed down on the lands
and washed out all the mighty bad,
the silly sods and lilly pads,
the desperate Dan's that always fight,
so righteous, blighting with their might.
Until the dust did come to rest
and stain us all that did invest
in timeless rebirth, drenched in bile.
I saw it happen.
It was vile.
Mike
... no idea where that came from or what it means; it was definitely a streamer :-)

Is this snowstorm I have been reading about in the news? If so I hope you are keeping yourself warm. A very effective poem and loved the "Z" alliteration sound. Many poems about the cold and this is one of the good ones.

A blizzard can be a nasty experience, and being caught in one even more so. I loved the very descriptive words written here
"Death holds us in your icy grasp."
Great Writing
Honeytree.

Not a really 'pretty' picture here, but certainly a superb acrostic! No doubt, you will have no trouble in the voting. Wow, again. Lea Ann
