DOWN MEMORY LANE OF ROOSTER CROW!

I liked this poem.
I enjoyed the free style, the free order of flow, free flow of thoughts, memoirs of old days of living in the rural town, imageries and visuals, well-equipped structure, soft poetic language, rhythms of thoughts, rhymes and Nature in appreciation.

It was a pleasant memoir read.

Jay, I appreciate yiour kind words. They mean even more knowing that you have the love of nature. We dream of retiring to a small farm near the town, but I'm so visuallyimpaired that I think my hubby would worry himself silly (sillier) about me being 'trapped' with no way into town or to get help. So ... town it is, but not city. Thaks agian, and blessings, Deb

It's nice when we can reach back to a place we knew long ago and smile.

I liked your poem for it's earthiness and simplicity. It reminds me of a farmer I once knew. He would constantly talk about the land and nature. - Thesis

Land and nature are as much a part of some of us as blood and air. I understand your farmer friend. Thanks so much for your kind words. Blessings, Deb

Really cool in how you described your home town in Texas a place where i particularly have always wanted to go because it looked like such a beautiful state. Your refrains worked really well Deb and the romanticism of wanting to go back there made me get more interested in the piece. Wonderful poem. Well done.

Oh, you should come! We have it all -- dessert, pine forest, hill country, beaches ... I love this place. It's too hot in the summer, too wet in the winter, we have tornados and hurricanes, fire ants and mosquitos the size of airplanes, but it's a great place. :) My family settled the Austin area back when there was no Austin, so we're long-timers, and not planning on changing that any time soon. I'm glad the poem evoked feeling in you -- that was the 'hoped-for'. Blessings, Deb

This is fantastic! Except for the partial rhyme in the last stanza.
Couldn't you put "haze" or something in there? It would be such a smoother read I think.
Sincerely,
Curt

I'll look again at the rhyme in the last stanza. Thank you for an honest opinion, although I wouldn've liked a 5. :) I like that you rate honestly. Blessings, Deb

I'll give you one if you make it work. The thought in the poiece is worth it.

Oh, goodness ... I was just mouthing. :) I'm a little embarrassed. I just jotted this down to rid my brain of other projects for a few minutes, because I'm doing writing for hire right now and DO NOT LIKE the lady who hired me, or the job. She misrepresented it, it's taking a LOT longer than we thought and she's STILL not happy. So the poem was just a break from the 'job' or writing. I may attend to it later as a 'real' thing, and will take your suggestion into account. Thanks so much. You're very kind. Deb
