Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

My pastor preached on this very thing today, calling for LOVE IN ACTION, not judgment from the Christian community, citing the parable of the Good Samaritan, recalling that there is no record of what the Samaritan SAID, only his offer of PRACTICAL HELP when needed. Amen, I say. Good one, Brooke. :)

Thank you, Jes. Frankly, I don't care if a couple hundred years ago some Haitian revolutionaries actually did make a deal. LOL I don't even know the names of my great grandparents from that far back, let alone know what they did or said. If someone told me one of them had owned slaves or slaughtered Native Americans and because of that, my children were going to die in a disaster, I would spit on the person telling me that. I'm so glad so many pastors are speaking out. You are most generous, my friend :-) Brooke

I have long since wondered how this Pat Robertson guy is still able to expel his ridiculous doctrine. You nailed it Brooke! Cheers and good thoughts... Jack xox

Yeah, pearl I've been really iffy on the old man myself. I really don't think that the people of Haiti made a deal with the devil I believe that's stupid. I'll admit that I used to watch the man and even watched the episode when he was annoucing his candacy for the United States Presidency. Great poem. By the way the picture you put up their made him sound like he was Nero which really assisted visually in your poem.

It has always angered me when people say that horrible disasters, etc, is God's was of punishing those who've spurned him. How would they know? Opinion? Everyone has one, it doesn't make it right.

It also angers me when someone shouts from the roof top that they are a Christian, then they do or say something that makes Christians look foolish.

Very moving poem, Brooke. (Needless to state after my rant!) LOL

Always fight back!

Brooke, wow, you have certainly got this right. How could anyone say that this is a result of a pact with the devil. I can't believe it!
Well written and structured, free flowing, but most important, written with passion!
Well done.
Warmest regards
Marijke

Brooke,
I am surprised by the changes in Pat Robertson over the years. When he started as an evangelist ,amy year ago, driving an old car, with very little money in his pockets,
he was a religious man, but like so many who "speak for God
(and money)," he started believing that he and God were equals. Once, years ago, I was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. At a retreat, we were speaking of the
failed marriages, adultry, and various sins that are so common. The pastor of one of the wealthiest churches in the area spoke out, "We don't allow sinners in our church!"
Before my mind could catch up with my mouth, I asked, "Who in the hell made you God?" He never spoke to me again.
Fondly, Lyle

We don't allow sinners in our church? Dear Lord, Lyle, whom did he think church was created for!!! God did not send his Son to us to celebrate the wonderful, perfect people - he came for the sinners. Thank you for your most insightful comments :-) Brooke

I actually wondered if he said that because they are Catholic. When my mother suffered her cardiac arrest and suffered with severe brain damage, that was one of the claims leveled at members of my family from there the applied logic is lost and the same people only sought to further complicate things and not help.

This poem is well written and does make its point. That is one problem that I am sure that God is well aware of, when religion uses his words and motives for themselves. I actually believe that is the primary reason that Jesus came here in the first place.

I suspect it has something to do with the mixture of voodoo and Catholicism the Haitians practiced at the time of the overthrow of the French. Thanks, Mike, for your thoughtful comments. Brooke

Dear Pat, My God is one of Loving and forgiving. Too bad about yours. But wait, with your toile mouth, you deserve the one you serve. Brooke, this is very well written with compassion and under standing. If I was healthy, I would like to send Pat to through the Ozone with a well placed kick to his "Ahem."

I never listen to any of those guys. Frankly I think it's all about the business and the money, just like everything else. Very good way to remind us how much of a ass he is.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

Tony, I think it's about their mega business too - the sad thing is many people DO listen to them. Thanks so much, Brooke :-)

And I suppose he'll be the first one to lend a hand to the people in need. Sorry for my language, but Robertson and others like him that profess a hateful God are just so full of bullshit and themselves. Great poem that states your views plain and clear, Brooke.
