Aw
What a sweet tribute to your Tiger. :)
I love the repeated line 'with style and grace'.
The great rhythm of the octogram fits nicely with this elegant offering, Brooke.
The photo of the cat prancing through the pristine snow complements your poem.
I loved your author notes as well. ;)
Well done.
(I've had several cats that this poem made me think of.)

I feel your passion Brooke. I don't have an animal now but when I did, it was always a cat. Usually some stray kitten that needed a home. Had to put down Tim who 18 years old not too long ago... it was extremely difficult. Nice poem my friend.
Cheers and happy thoughts... Jack xox

thank you, Lorraine. He was amazingly smart, even more so by comparison to the other two cats we had at the same time. LOL Brooke :-)

A most enjoyable read.
You've deftly captured
the pure elegance of the
cat you call "Tiger". One
can well visualize him, his
move, and regal carriage. no nits
or spags. Lora

What a wonderful poem, you captured the essence of a big cat with the hunting instincts and the heart of gold. I had such a wonderful cat as well.
I liked these lines in particular:
He crossed a room in elegance,
with style and grace,
When hunting he would look intense
before the chase.
as he brought home his well-stalked prey.
He earned his keep and rightful place
with style and grace.
I would love it if you could review some of my poems. You are very accomplished.

Hi brooke,
ahhhhh... my favorite subject!! They are indeed quite elegant and regal. Good for you for handling the dead presents as you did. I'm afraid I wasn't as good. Thankfully, Sam doesn't bring any to me. I know he gets a few now & then. I've caught him with a live chipmunk a couple of times & managed to get him off them. Hopefully, as they weren't badly hurt, they went on to live a long life. But the first thing he does every morning when he's first let out is run to see if he can find something to chase!
Thank you for sharing memories of Tiger with us!
smiles,
deb

Brooke,
I love this poem and the subject of it. Years ago, I was "allowed" by my first wife to have cats. In face, that was about all I was allowed:( I, and my boys, loved those little fellows. The morning surprise of the "prize"
was always a little startling. It seems that cats begin at the head of the prey, so our gift was usually a tail
in tthe mornings, which I really can't complain about:)
Fondly, Lyle
ps Why are you always listed as nunber 1, and I am ranked somewhere around 5,000? Kidding:)

You are not number 5000 in my estimation at all, dear friend, but they don't ask my opinion in the rankings :-) Do you sound a tad bitter about wife number 1? LOL Thanks, Lyle :-) Brooke

Wife # 12 is much nicer:)

This is the MOST amazing thing! The picture took so long to download, that I decided to scroll down and read the verse first ... but WOW! When it did appear -- the BIGGEST smile on my face ... whew. I really, really like you. XO Lea Ann

What a fun story, Brooke. I can just see you, scrunching your nose, picking up the remains. :) Our 18 year old cat--Fred (I agreed to take him in when my 23 year old was in kindergarten!) He once deheaded a bunny and left it n our porch on Easter morning. Ugh. Now, he must stay in the house on locked inside the lanaii as we have an endangered species living on our property--a burrowing owl. So, no. He can't go out there no matter how much he complains.

Thanks, dear friend - you are spot on with the nose-scrunching. LOL Glad this connects with your own experiences, if glad is the right word to use when discussing beheaded bunnies. :-) Brooke
