Hi Brooke I really had to think about this one. As a rhyming poem I enjoyed it, however I beleive free verse is not supposed rhyme quite as much. I sense that you are not a great lover of free verse, (like me) I feel most free verse is like a short story. Cheers Gaye

That is why I said it was as close to free verse as I get in the description, to admit I had no idea if it would be categorized as free verse since I had no idea what to call it - I'm sorry if you thought I was making a claim to its being free verse. I was, obviously unsuccessfully, trying to make a joke that it was not any particular form. Thanks, Gayle. Brooke

Finely done in its controlled freedom. Your poem is one of hope and the common search of all artists. Congratulations on a very good poem. dhero

It's those times of "alone-ness" that produce re-birth. Your poem says it all perfectly. The artwork is outstanding and the entire presentation quite lovely. ann

Nice to see you challenge yourself with free verse. I know you cannot help yourself about including some rhymes, which were not intrusive! I liked you keeping your use of alliteration and especially the strength and intimacy of the conclusion of your poem.

Hi Brooke,
What a good way of describing winter. I always feel depressed when all the leaves are gone and everyone stays inside and the sky looks bleak. That's why I live in Florida. You have done a beautiful job with the poem and the message means so much. Look to God.

I wanted to read more - it was just so beautiful. I wanted it to go on. By the way, congratulations on being the 2009 Poet of the Year. It was well-deserved, Brooke.

This is lovely, Brooke.
I don't think I've ever read one of your free verse poems.
What a gentle and restful feeling this conveys.
I really enjoyed this.
This feels different than your other poetry, for some reason; but just as lovely!
Pretty presentation.

I wrote one free verse poem about love being like a kaleidoscope a year or more ago - I think that is the grand sum of the collection. LOL Thanks, Nic. Brooke :-)

Sensational piece that really hit me hard! Going through some serious personal family issues right now and this was very comforting to read...brought my mind back to my faith! Thanks for that, hon. Hugs and smiles, Susanne

Buds bloom thru the winter
If you're full of light
when buds dont bloom
No bonghits are in sight
No pineapple is sorrow
for the morrow
God can I borrow a dime?
Soothing, amazing poetry, as usual. Concise,
precise, didactic and did I say, concise?
Kindly, fish

Thank you, Fish - no bonghits in sight - I suppose for some that would be the height of sorrow! Brooke :-)
