Our snow lasted a whole day -- that's a big thing here! In fact, in the shade it lasted almost 48 hours. I"ve never seen it stay on the ground overnight like that. Enjoy what you have, Di. :) We are green with envy ... sort of. We're actually ready to get back in our tee shirts and play in the yard for New Years! Deb

To Mama Deb,
A welcomed surprise to see snow upon the ground but only to see it disappear as fast as it came and now have to bid adieu's until next year.

This is a fun little poem, MamaDeb. I enjoyed reading it for its light hearted jovial tone, its smooth flow and its strong rhymes and consistent rhythm.

Good luck in the competition.

Texas in the winter is mostly freeze-free near the coast, but I spent a week in Houston on business way back in the seventies and the pipes at my motel froze and we had no water for three days. It can happen :<)

First, my apologies for Houston -- it is not my favorite place! And we do freeze, but never snow, which is an oddity, I guess. It was great fun for the grandkids, although 2 of the 3 are too little to really understand. Thanks froreading and commenting, Deb

G'day Deb
WE have snow almost as rarely in many parts of Australia, though here in Canberra it makes an annual appearance.
Neat little poem, with something to look forward too in the ending.

Good effort!

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. It may be a couple of years before we get to see that snowman again, but anticipation makes it sweet. :) Blessings, Deb

Hello to you,

I liked your title-it was very good.

Your poem is short yet just as good. I'm giving it a 5 star, even though I feel it could be stronger, because it evokes all happy thoughts and I did like it very much.

The words were all GREAT!

Thanks, thanks Susan (right?) Not sure how many stanzas are allowed in the quantrain poem contest, so I kept it shorter than my normal long-winded poems! Blessings, Degb
