Oh my friend, I'm so glad I read this one located in the selection of the best poems of the month. I like the way you elevate POETRY to a finer art. I wish you the best. I need to learn much from you.

This is such a cute poem, Yeltel, but I hope you are wrong about good poetry becoming extinct.
I want to congratulate you in winning the poetry of the month contest. You truly deserve it. I am so proud of you, my friend.

yeltel,
I prefer rhyming and free verse poem. There are many bad haiku and senryu. I love your well written poem "Poetry - I saw it run." Your rhyme, meter and descriptive scheme are spot on. I can see why your "awesome" poem is up for poem of the month. I love the third stanza:
'Just listen: "POETRY"! This word is proud,
It's musical and soothing to an ear
It whispers, woes, it's not "zigzag" or loud
and if you listen well, then you might hear'
Its now a toss up who to vote for either yours or Margaret's. I wish I had a six to give your exceptional poem.
Melissa.

Thank you so much, Melissa. I was very surprised by this poem's nomination. This is not even my usual genre. But - I guess it made it to the podium somehow. (lol). Appreciate your warm words and the compliment; and thank you for your faith in my poetry.

Oh, Di, I was quite surprised by this poem's nomination. Of all the poems I write about flowers, beautiful moon; majestic oceans; it was this one that made it to the podium! (lol). Amazing.

Bravo! Bravo, brave Yeltel! Thank you for saying what I have been for so long thinking, but didn't have the acumen to frame in words. Alas! I have no more sixes, or you would surely get one, or a seven if one were available.

Thank you so much, Jay. I am glad I have a kin spirit on this one. The true poetry lover in me suffers seeing this quasi poetry and ahem... other poetry. Someone had to come out with it! Glad it resonated with your own thoughts.
Cheers, my friend! Bubbly for the kinship of spirit (lol).
Love, Yelena

Good Evening
To me your poetry is very well expressed with very good rhyme, meter and the syntax is wonderful.
Yes I hate to even think the art of writing any kind of poetry could go out of existence.

Thank you so much, dear Margaret, for such a wonderful review. I am so glad you enjoyed it, my friend. A rhyming fan and a true poetry lover, I hurt when I see all this quasi poetry going on that defies the word "poetry" as a whole!
Blessings and love, Yelena

I have to confess I don't always understand some of the poetry on site, let alone like it, so just have to skip it. Margaret

Well...I agree! I have been disappointed at some contest winners and well received "poems" that are not really poems of any substance. However, for whatever reason, they are appealing to those who vote. On the other hand, I choose to read some wonderful poems by writers on this site, including you, who know how to continue to put words into a "poetic" form and create wonders that motivate me. So, I understand and appreciate the rant and also appreciate the great writing that CAN be found on the site. Sue

Thank you, Sue, for the nice and understanding review. Your caught my gist exactly; it's just a rhyming fan and a lover of good poetry in general hurts when I see those new forms which are shaped like an elephant's "rear" (lol). I often feel, good poetry is dying out. So, this is what the rant was about! Glad you enjoyed; and thank you again for reviewing.

This is an excellent poem, sort of a cross between sad and witty, but so beautifully done. I liked it very much, and especially the verse:
"Just listen: "POETRY"! This word is proud,
It's musical and soothing to an ear
It whispers, woes, it's not "zigzag" or loud
and if you listen good, then you might hear."
My only question would be the word "good" in this line. Do you mean "well?" I'm just asking. Nice poem!

Dear MissMeri,
Thank you so much for your great review. I am glad you liked my poetic piece; and yes, I like that stanza myself! (lol).
Thanks again, love and hugs, Y.
