Your poem reminds me of the time when I invited Frosty to come and warm himself by the fire and have a cocoa. I got the fire roaring and floated little marshmallows a top of his chocolate and it was all a cozy sight until I went to get some cookies from the kitchen. When I came back, now only melting snow remains. Good Job. Mike

What a tragic story, little brother - you are not a very good host! LOL Thanks, Mike :-) Brooke

Thus is the crystal magic of snow, that drifting and forming never stops and seems to dare us to forget and always it leaves with fond memories of winter snows gone by.

You capture the feeling an imagery well. I see why you are number one this year.

Sincerely,
Pastor Brady

Wow - a masterpiece, which richly deserves a six. It is amazing, amazing, Brooke, what you can do with your words. And the repeating lines of the Kyrielle work so well here! "Where only melting snow remains". This could be taken metaphorically, or in its actual sense. The nature lover in me was appeased by your words and the picture. This was the favorite:

I've memories of contoured drifts
and sculptures formed by freezing rains,
of glassy ponds reflecting trees --
now only melting snow remains.

Thank you, Yelena, for the exceptional rating and the insight to understand that this poem can be read at a metaphorical level. I truly appreciate your encouraging and gracious comments. I hope you're having a marvelous week leading up to Christmas! Brooke :-)

Beautiful! I could just picture the memories that you wrote about and sense all of the scenery of the melting snow. Great work! There is nothing that needs improvement.

This is very nice. You have a nice rhyme and rhythm. You actually kept to rules in this. There is a place even for poetry rules. Nice job.

Brooke,

This kyrielle tends to grip the heart of the reader with feelings of sympathy for the one you describe whose life's experiences and joys have been reduced to memories. Well done.

Thank you, Duane - it is great to hear from you. I appreciate your perceptive read of this poem - the sadness did not come through for a bunch of people - I even had one say it was cheery! Brooke

Superb! This is a beautiful use of the
repeated line as it symbolizes different
things, physical and emotional. Such a
melancholy loveliness here! Carolyn

Loved the way the poet paints the picture of winter memories. The usage of words such as "contoured drifts
and sculptures formed by freezing rains" and "cocoa sipped
as crystals formed on window panes" are great. They paint such a great picture for the readers to imagine.

Very nicely done!

Cold images and cold emotions. Your imagery helps to emphasize the negativity of the memories some wish they could forget. Your poem has sent a chill up my spine, making me more aware of the harsh Minnesota winter outside. Well done.

Now this I really really likes. What a beautiful writer you are. You have an amazing way with words. The flow, the meter, the content. Look forward to reading more.
