Excellent execution of the rondeau form (I have a new rondeau in my files, so I might organize a rondeau contest.) It really is an enjoyable form with which to work, and you illustrate your mastery of it well here. The use of the refrain gives the poem a liturgical feel. I like the ending on a note of hope.

Thank you, Alvin - I'm so glad you like this rondeau. I am only joining contests for now that don't use that blinder option because when people enter a blinder contest, their fans are not notified that they have posted, and I'm not willing to forfeit fan notification for a poem. Brooke :-)

At least in the blind haiku contest, my fans were notified. Are you sure about the lack of fan notification?

Hullo Adewpearl ....

This is very well written, sharing your thoughts on a little-known passage from Holy Scripture.
I enjoyed reading this and thank you for sharing it with us. I also wish you well in the Contest.
With love from ..... Nanette Mary.

Thank you, Nanette Mary - I learned of this passage in the early 80's when I became a fan of Sweet Honey in the Rock, a group of women who are remarkable singers who took their name from this Bible verse. Brooke :-)

I loved the art work here and the words are really beautiful to read. I loved the writer's interpretation of these wonderful words.

The author notes were very interesting, to read as well.

Great writing

Honeytree.

hey
sweet nectar for the soul from the bountiful supply of all that we require to feed our souls will flow from the rock of, the corner stone, of His Church, Jesus
Romans 9.
(vs 23, 33)
Matt.7;24
1Cor. 10; 1-4

Matt. 3;1-12 (vs 12)
John 12;24-26
Jesus was the finest of wheat and the wheat dies and produces grain

Luke 22;31 Satan will sift you like wheat , ( the wheat that did not make the grade from the harvest ended up on the trheshing floor and was burned in the furnace

His children were brought out of slavery in Egypt in preparation for the Coming of His Son

hey Brooke
very good poetry
yes you are right it is not PHYSICALLY literally interpreted but it was spiritually literal and the preparation for the new testament was made in the old testament
have a smiley day

Brilliant and I feel you should write more in this vein because it not only lifts your spirit by reading His word, it lifts the reader's spirit also."Store up your treasures in heaven where moth and rust doth not corrupt." We are going through dark days now, I believe it is the sorting time, sorting the wheat from the chaff. Blessings my friend.

I am not relgious Brooke, I consider myself to be spiritual, but I agree with every word in your author's notes and was able to imediately understand what the promise of wheat and honey really means in your poem.

Your observation that many people who are blessed don't necessarily have a lot of food on the the table, and others living in huge mansions with tables laden with food and gold cutlery are poor in spirit.

This is a very well written poem that speaks a plain truth. Regards, Jan

Thank you, Jan - I am an active member of my church, mainly because of all the community outreach work, but I've always been bothered by many of the problems of organized religion that drive spiritual people away from the church. My own children are spiritual, not religious - in fact, they're both atheists but humanists. I simply care that people lead moral, ethical, compassionate lives. I truly believe that is all God has ever asked of anyone. Brooke :-)

The honey flows, we lap it up,
the velvet taste of plenty,
Our inexorable release
from any thoughts of peace.

The honey flows, we swim in dreams
of all that we might have;
frustration liberated, yes
we know the tap that can us bless

To grant us fortitude,
and stave the fear of night.

Mike
