My best friend is my oldest sister - you speak so much truth about the sibling relationship in this thoughtful naani poem, Marijke. It certainly spoke to me :-) Brooke

Thank you Brooke for your kind review. I have nine sisters and 2 brothers (and me makes 12!), and I have a wonderful relationship with each and every one of them.

I only had one brother who was thirteen years older, but you are right about the relationship. I enjoyed your simile and presentation as well. Good luck in the contest with this excellent theme for a naani.

Cheaper by the dozen, eh? Just kidding of course. You and your family are very fortunate to share such a close relationship.

Hi Marijke,
This is a nice Naani on human relationships. Not all people
can say they are blessed with the best family so you are very
lucky with your nice family. Thanks for sharing this lovely poem which compares your brothers and sisters to diamonds.
Best wishes in the contest.
Anabella

Thank you Anabella, for your generous review and rating. I am lucky to be part of such a large and close family, and they are better then diamonds, but it was the closest comparison I could find.

G'day fionageorge

Lovely family image! I do remeber, though, that when it was a case of 'fessing up to some childish misdemeanour they often seemed to be absent when needed!

Good luck!

What a delightful Naani poem. It meets the criteria of the competition but more than this it tells of the value you place for your siblings. How lovely is that.

I liked it!!!

You kept to perfect form.
I was just wondering why you rhymed the first two lines and not the second two?

But it sends a beautiful message, it strikes very close to home for those of us who have siblings in any form.

Good Work :)

Hi, thanks for review and rating. Care and there do not really rhyme. But it was not intentional either, this is free verse.

fionageorge,

This is a wonderful naani poem! I especially enjoyed this part of it: "They laugh, they love, they share.
When needed, they are there."

Your presentation is beautiful as well! I enjoyed reading it!

Good parallelism in this poem. It's definitely about human relationships, and the expression of one and all can be realized in that everyone has a family. Nice simile; you invest that stock phrase with new meaning so it doesn't sound cliched. Nice message.

Yes, I found the Dutch to be one of the kindest, most understanding people in the world. When I was in Geneva as a teenager, there was a Dutch young woman there, and I spent much enjoyable time with her. You're welcome for the review.

You know you are a blessing when you can share the love of your family with strangers. You make writing a naani seem so easy to do. It looks like you enjoy it as much as I enjoy the hiakus. Even those like me who are only childs can enjoy. Job well done.

It's nice when people truly have those bonds that are deep rooted in love. Many don't. Lovely meaning in Naani poem in good form. Love, Jean
