Oh, Brooke, it's adorable! I am so glad I stumbled on it in your portfolio. I like fantasy pieces; and this is a double delight here. The picture is precious, and sets the tone. Very much liked the repeating line:
As fairy dust falls from my wand
Unicorns are mystical creatures; there must be a legend attached to it; I'll have to research it. This was magical:
as fairy dust falls from my wand
to free you from the earthly bond
that binds you from the day you're born.
I loved this Triolet, Brooke.

adewpearl,
Enjoyed reading this. I've collected unicorns for many years and remain fascinated with them--so your poem spoke to me. This form and its repetitious nature added to the magic. elaine

That is just SO beautiful. I have been 'off-line' for a few days...gastric flu or the dreaded 'swine flu', don't know, except I wanted to die lol. To come back and read your beautiful poem...bliss..Thank you

Oh how you have captured the mystery and
the beauty that fairy tales can offer us.
Who would not want to sit astride that
unicorn and wander off into a land of
such excitement.

Yay, unicorns!! :) Love this little fantasy piece. Excellent flow and rhyme. Not very much description, but the picture makes up for that! I think that my favorite line is this one: "to free you from the earthly bond
that binds you from the day you're born." Don't know why I like it. I just do.
Great job and good luck in your further work!

Thanks so much, Mary - it's hard to pack too much description into so tiny a poem, so I'm glad you were OK without it :-) Brooke

Definately a fantasy poem, the first one I have read with a unicorn in it. You did well with the form and this gives one a brief escape into another world.

This is a well written piece following the pattern of the type you described. I love the picture you have chosen as this adds to the story beautifully. This reminds me of a poem that a little girl would love.
