What a lovely lullaby, Brooke.
I especially like the lilting refrain.
The thought of sprites dancing around the bed and fairies catching tears in their threaded webs and leaving rose petals instead is DELIGHTFUL!
I love this poem. Love the alliteration. Loved the imagery. :)

A very loving and beautiful poem! Your form is excellent! I love this piece, it really portrays the innocence of a child! How we want to protect someone so little and fragile. You really created that feeling with this piece. Your imagery is vivid making this poem very special.
Take care RTR

I could hear a gentle lullaby as
I read these words, so soft and

with a special person in mind and heart.

Oh my Brooke...what a coincidence. I just read this lovely lullaby prayer(because that's what it is to me) and was shocked at how much the content has in common with my Sweet Sue and the Dream Fairy. Of course yours is much more sophisticated and graceful, but it seems to be a telepathy thing. Fairies, dreams, sweet child...your Sleep Well Sweet Child is absolutely beautiful. This is a real keeper and should be put to music. Jeanne xo

Thank you so much, Jeanne. Yes, I consider this much like a prayer, too :-) You are most generous in your response - I will have to look at your poem. Brooke :-)

Thank you, Kat - I so wish you had had a loving mother too - my daughter is the most precious part of my life (along with her brother), but this poem was inspired by her fairy-loving self. :-) Brooke

Brooke, I've been so busy lately--got a daughter's wedding coming up--so I just pop on when I can and cherry pick. Ans what a cherry I've picked this time!
This is absolutely beautiful. The images are startling in their simplicity and complexity--contradiction intended. The poem is so warm, tender, and beautiful, truly capturing the innocence and miracle that a baby is.
I love it.

John, thank you. The wedding of a daughter trumps Fan Story any day!!! :-) Thank you so much for this lovely and generous review, and may your daughter's marriage bring you grandbabies to sing lullabies to :-) Brooke

The rondeau is a form that can be hard to write well because of its strong rhyme scheme. It works best in lullabies and nursery rhymes and you have used it well here. I like that you managed to vary your word choice quite a bit, despite the restrictions.
