Hi Brooke What a lovely Haiku, the words paint the picture.
The choice of artwork is the best. I love your second line, I can just see those trees bending.. LOL Gaye

Ooooo... I like this one alot... very well done and with a strong satori that is very poetic and conjures a very precise image of sunset.

You are an inspiration to me and I love the way you
relate the picture to the poem. You are giving me
an education in poetry as I have not been a poetry
reader in a long time. But your writings entice me
to read on.

Thanks for letting us know that the picture inspired the haiku--I find it fascinating to learn something about the writer's process, especially yours! I enjoyed your personification of the trees and sun in this 5-7-5. I also especially liked your "curtain call" metaphor and abundant alliteration.

Oh, Brooke, how sublimely you transport the essence of this delicious scene into a haiku! I'm so sorry I have no six again, though I know you don't need it. I am going to try very hard to find an improvement to suggest, but, you know, I bet I'll fail. Peter

What a great interpretation of the artwork! I love the thought of the curtsy of the trees to the sun's last curtain call! Brilliant and so lighthearted that one can't help but smile!

I can see why you love silhouettes... you use them too.
I just ran across this wonderful haiku... it speaks volumes about the end of day and peace of the evening.
