Good to see a little fun on FS. I hope Amicus is just thrilled with your poem, hearthfelt as it may be. LOL The picture there, the ball in air, hopes turn to fear as the end draws near. Cute

Thank you, Joyce - Amicus was a good sport about the poem :-) Brooke

A very amusing and ironic poem. Good use of the aabb rhyme scheme, which gives the poem a lilting tone (which I find perfectly acceptabe in humorous poems.) You also taught me something about baseball. Since one of my friends is a baseball fanatic, that was incredibly useful.

LOL
This is fun. I enjoyed your witty baseball rhyme.
Sorry your team lost.
I haven't watched much baseball since they went on strike in 1994. LOL
Well, you paid-up and wrote an ode. That's not so easy to do when you're hurting. Ha-Ha
I love your sense of humor and good spirit, Brooke.

LOL and ROFL. I can't say you're a sore loser, but you surely did pay your betting debt, didn't you? I don't get to watch it here as I no longer have Sky TV. In truth, I don't really understand the game that well. I'm a soccer fan!
Very well written.
Warmest wishes

Kat, ME??? A sore loser??? Philly is a city famous for booing even its own players should one of them be having a dry spell. We're most likely the most enthusiastic sports city in the country, but hardly known for being gracious! LOL Thanks for your humorous review of my insincere ode :-) Brooke

lol, you always raise a laugh here, Brooke! :)

Amicus should be ashamed of himself - that's cruel and unusual punishment! LOL The poem is a good work anyway, which just proves that you can make a winner even if the Phillies can't. Good work and so sorry for your team.

Hey, I would have expected him to pay up with an ode to the PHillies had it gone the other way! LOL Thanks. Brooke :-)

Oh, Brooke, I feel your pain
For those darned Yankees sure did rain
Upon my baseball parade again
It is driving me pure insane
To have to say it loud and plain
Yes, brother, although I sure disdain
Your team with that baseball acclaim
I can hate them just the same
Next year let them play in Spain
And come back on a real slow train
With tennis elbows and shoulder strains
Because it just hurts my brain
To have to hear it all again.

Although not familiar with the game and teams, the feeling is the same whatever team or nation plays the various codes of football, basketball etc.
My rating is based on the emotions and the excellent poem you have created to reflect these emotions.
Good rhythm and rhyme.
Warmest Regards
Marijke

No sympathy from me, I am a big Yankee fan, for nearly 40 years and #27 is so well received. Now, you Reluctant Ode is very well written with a good rhyming pattern that is not forced. Very Good.

Great fun poem Brooke. Perfect cadence and rhyme! I cried too when the Yankees won. I cried even more when the Phillies beat the Dodgers.

Thank you, Lee - glad to know there are others who get emotional over their baseball. Since Tommy Lasorda managed the Dodgers for so many years, I've also had a soft spot for them - Tommy is from my hometown, Norristown, PA. :-) Brooke
