Oh my, what a wonderful Sonnet! I have written these, they're fun to do. I love your wording, the many hues you offer him to be enticed. When you talk of the peacock, the picture you chose really adds to your poetry, I so enjoyed!

I should think you'll have
them queuing up at your door
after all these gifts you've
promised.
This is really quite beautiful - perfect, in fact.
Good luck with the contest, my friend.
Margaret.

You are truly a master rhymer, Miss Brooke. This is a lovely Shakespearean sonnet, the meter and rhyme are absolutely perfect and the meaning is clear and dripping with love and color. I enjoyed it every line of the way to the colorful ending.

Hey, I think I might be a little late on this one. Anyway, I have to say "wow"! This is brilliantly "colored" writing, and what makes it even more Shakespearean is the underlying tone of unrequited love....I adore the lines.... "Could I entice with golden threads of silk
wove into yards of pale champagne brocade,
or would chiffon as creamy white as milk
help find the love you lately have mislaid?"
.......ah, if only it were that simple! I love this...you are awesome. And the peacock pic is perfect...how's that for alliteration?

Brooke, lovely poem. I checked the meter and it seems to be in order (we're going over meter in class so I just had to check it!) I wish you well in the contest. Nice to be able to review one of your poems again.
Love,
Jenny *smile*

How often we have wondered what it would take to have our love reciprocated. Part of love and life's journey. Well said. Thanks! Atlantalu
