[busting] out laughing as I say - bursting?

Here, the 7-11 staff wear uniform. my kids' favourite place. i have one across the house and another at the Shell station to the left. interesting how you include the shop and staff in your poem.

Busting out is actually a local dialect, if I mention bursting out, they then think I am referencing a Jethro Tull album. I do know that they are world wide, but I didn't know to what extent. I thank you for your compliments and this review. Mike

It's so nice of you to give tribute to someone who helps make your day better, Mike. Don't you just love those Slurpees...until your head explodes from the chill? LOL

The ironic thing is I have been on vacation and she may no longer be there. It just figures. I actully use brain freeze to cool and shrink the sinuses. I thank you very much for this reivew. Mike

Great poem. Rhymes perfectly, and every line holds the interest.

How lucky your friend is, to have this wonderful poem written for her!

I love this tribute to the lady working in the cafe you frequent so often. Can't say I would fancy the food you eat. We Brits survive on a totally different diet (especially breakfast). Your free verse told a story that was interesting and empathic. Great.

Believe it or not, it is more like a store where you get everything youselves. The machines are at your disposal and it is always humorous to see someone getting a slurpee for the first time. It is sort of like a foamy ice chrystal treat and if you don't turn it off right, it shoots out and gets you or foams over the cup. I thank you very much for the compliments and this review. Mike

I would love to know about breakfast. As a child, mom had an assortment of eggs or pancakes, sometimes french toast. There was always bacon or sausage. I don't enjoy too many sit downs. Some of the items will be presented in future poems. Unfortunately, we grab something to go and run. Most of the bigger stores like McDonalds, Burger King and Taco Bell have items like this. Convenient, but not good for the system. Have a great weekend! Mike

Lovely to hear from you and I enjoyed reading about your life style.Thank you for taking the time to reply to me and explain about the store, (we would call this a shop).
English Breakfast for us is varied. Sometimes some of us will have a cooked breakfast of bacon, egg, sausage and beans. The veggies in the family will substitute bacon and sausage with mushroom and tomatoes (or vegetarian sausage). This we eat with toasted bread. Used to be fried bread in my youth but these days we try to eat healthier. Grilling (do you call this braising?) rather than frying .
A cooked breakfast like this is a treat at weekends usually. Years ago my dad wouldn't leave the house without a full English breakfast lining his stomach. He would say he couldn't work on an empty stomach. No good serving up a slice of toast then!
Most of the time our breakfast is not so elaborate. A simple cereal (I like porridge oats) and some fruit. Or toast with honey or a fruit preserve. Cups of tea with milk (nice and hot-not your iced rubbish, ha,ha!) is THE favourite tipple.(I'm odd, I like rooibosh with soya milk).
We rarely drink coffee at home.
I have American friends visiting me next month. They live in Texas. Hope I can please their palate.

From Texas? The world can be a small place. We call it frying, one of my favorites is to cut a hole in the bread with a cup. You butter the holey slice and just after you put the bread in the pan, you drop an egg in it. This is called a funny faced egg. I don't know if you do hash browns, but they are a mixture of potatoes, backand/or ham, and onions. Just fry until the potatoes are brown. Love it with catsup and hot sauce!

I enjoyed this and always interested in food. Have a great weekend! Mike

you have a great big heart and it shows. your empathy for your fellow man is clear and your idealism is bursting out of your poem. not to mention it is funny. i like the rhyme and rhythm (i prefer to write the same way) and i think this is one of the most creative ideas for a poem ive read in quite some time. well done. five stars.

ps, you may want to change assertain to ascertain in your bio.

This is very well written with a smooth rhyming scheme that makes for an easy read. There is very good imagery and descriptive scheme. Good job.

Good for you for recognizing that a hard-working person deserves thanks too. All the good food is not found in fancy restaurants. And to get a greeting and a genuine smile along with it is a great way to start and end your day.

I have had worse treatment when spending $25.00 and more. They won't be mentioned with this endeavor and I generally don't return often. I enjoyed your review and what you had to say. Mike

Light and enjoyable. The places where the line length goes so much longer than the rest is a bit awkward, although it seems to be for emphasis, it may do better trimmed down a bit.

I regret that I can't score it, but in one case with the hot dog, you say it really fast, with another you just stop and the after a couple of beats, finish.

I thank you for reviewing this. Mike

I could feel that - or recognize that that must be true - but I wonder if there's a way to add some kind of punctuation that sets that off a bit so it's more obvious to the reader who can't hear your voice.
