Hi Brooke
A wonderful poem so full of truth.
Your use of alliteration is great. If only we could all reach out. LOL Gaye

Well, it sure is exceptional, as at least one other reviewer has opined, Brooke. Your compassionate heart beats strongly night and day. I appreciated so many alliterative b's, and I found myself thinking of bangs, bullets, bombs and barbed wire. Thank you for sharing. Peter

Thank you, Peter - I'm glad the alliteration worked for you :-) Most people liked the alliteration but it put off a couple. Brooke

A powerful rictameter, Brooke, remembrance of all who laid their lives in any war, and especially for those perished on 9/11. You chose powerful words to describe the cruel and senseless war machine and innocent lives that become scapegoats in its wake. I noticed, a lot of words start with a letter "b", it is having a feast today with your pen (lol).
Loved these lines:
the butchery of lives,
the bang of drums, bombastic lies,
the bedlam and barbarity of war
Brilliant.
Love and hugs, Yelena

Yelena, I appreciate your comments on the alliteration and on the focus of this poem - your attention to detail is always appreciated. Brooke :-)

Terrific stuff Brooke. Minimal simplicity that manages to say so much. Is this a continuation of your prepositions - beneath, above etc? You are master of this art form, so could continue the theme indefinitely! A wonderful read. Sally

This is so positive and inspirational. I think we all need to do a little reaching and that will help to set things as they should be. Well said. Bravo

Your rictameter tells a bold truth that everyone should move toward...beyond the battlefield to peace. This is a wonderful tribute to the ones who lost their lives...Judy

What wonderful alliteration, used to grand effect in both the rise and the fall of your contrasting poem. This is simple and devastatingly effective, Brooke. I humbly offer you one of my rarely-bestowed sixes.

Mike, I am totally honored by your response! You are most generous and have made my morning, for sure. Brooke

I hated the alliteration on this, Brooke. Alliteration is too playful, I think, for such a seriously premised piece.
And that's all I've got for ya' by way of critique or criticism. A great poem, just not working for me.

Thanks, Nescher - it was a concern, trying not to go over the line - for some I think it did : -) Brooke

I have been thinking about the world, over the last few days. I wonder what will it take to have a peaceful world?
Will men and women learn from war, from all around the world.
Will love replace war?
I loved the writer's words written here.
The words written are very telling and strong.
We could be at peace, and love one another and not hate.
Brilliant words written here.
Honeytree.
