Hi Mike,
This prologue struck my attention, because I am supposed to have dined so many many times in and around Baltimore, yet my memory does not help me remember the names or food. But as I read this interesting introduction, I thought in the next chapters I might bump into one I know.
There is a lot of sarcasm in your writing. I enjoyed reading it and will wait for the rest.
Love
Pupa

I didn't think this came across as sarcastic, but it does have that vane of humor in it. In a sense, my despleasure at the episode and the fact the message board threads have produced some results, it became an encouragement that had the unexpected of making me appreciate the food and restaurants that I grew up with.

I thank you very much and look forward to your comments. I thank you very much for reviewing this and the compliments. With love, Mike

I think I've heard about Anthony Bourdain, I don't watch cooking shows anymore because I have to start cooking again! LOL
In your writings I've learned a lot about Baltimore, a city I haven't visited yet. I also know about its culinary merits.
I enjoyed your essay very much. I know what I'll have for dinner ... Shrimp salad!

I have a nice appetizing sandwich when I am reasy to post. The beast that I photograph, cost about 11.00, but there is so much that I had to pull a mom and take half of it home. Later there will be a poem, both about the sandwich and the bar, from my mother's eyes.

I thank you for the compliments and revew. Look forward to, in the future, tantalizing you! Mike

Hey there! You're a "foodie" I have two sons who are chefs!! So was my Mom and her Mom before her! I love it!
This should be a fun romp Mike. Oh, and the travel show you mentioned, my walking partner has been watching religiously for years. It's our topic of conversation quite often. well done.

It is this book that will gain legs as it is a realm to explore. I do find it is just as much about the people and foods effect. I thank you very much for the compliments and this review. Mike

I've never watched this show though I'm a huge fan of Top Chef and he has, I think, been a guest judge. Food is a wonderful topic to use as a focus for your book - it is so much more than mere sustenance - so many people have all sorts of warm memories that are associated with favorite dishes. I look forward to reading more :-) Brooke

This is one of those strange concepts that sorted started out as a joke or tongue-in-cheek, but it really made me take a look at food as a total picture in one's life, as well made me gain in apprecitation. Also to explore facets of food and the role it plays in life.

I thank you for your review and the compliments too. Mike

Hi ya Mike! I've never had the honor of seeing any of Mr. Bourdain's food shows, but it sounds like he has some good ones. Why did he lump those three cities together and call it "Rust Belt"?(does it have to do with steel?) I'd be interested to hear what he slammed about Buffalo, since that's where I was born and raised.

It sounds like this collection will be interesting and fun, Mike. It sure would be a great job...getting paid to eat at all different kinds of eating establishments, huh?

Smiles,
Indy :>)

It sure beats being a starving writer! LOL The rust belt was a combination of loss of industry and economic down turns. In Baltimore's case crime and shows like the wire.

I recomend the show, "No reservations." It on the travel channel. I felt that he did his best with Buffalo.

I enjoyed this review and thank you for it. Mike

Hi Mike, I think I happened to watch that pig-slaughter episode, though I didn't watch the whole program. Must have been in the midst of something else.

This was a nice read (excuse me I'm fasting and now reading about food). Check these minor catches:

He brought with him his Eastern Bloc friend[,] Zimir.

If the place still has the delicacies that I love and has maintained the quality and atmosphere[, that too,] will be noted and they will be recommended highly.

Write on!

I did mention to you that episode, he covered some of the food in the city, including Muslim and Hindu. I believe you have the steamy rolls, in addition to a meal from the country with it farmhouse fare. Then they went into the jungle...

I made the corrections and thank you for them, as I do the compliments and this review. Just what one needs through a period of fasting, food poetry.

You are a man after my own heart ... I could live the rest of my life on nothing but seafood. I love it. I do not watch the travel channel so you educated me about that but Tony doesn't sound worthy of my time. He seems to have an attitude problem. I look forward to reading "Baltimore Delights".

No, I love Tony and would encourage you to check his shows out, ironically his attitude plays into his presentation and without it, the show would be boring. Catch one if you can to decide for yourself. I thank you very much for sharing with me, the compliments and t his review. Mike K2

Mike, I like the honesty in your writing.it's refreshingly sincere and very informative.

Clearly, you stand uo for what you believe is right.

I've been a fan of Anthony's for awhile too. He can be very moody and a pain in the ass at times, but mostly he provides a good show.

Too bad he didn't represent Baltimore well. - Thesis

Even if I end up standing alone! LOL I'll admit that I had my fun with the guy as in one episode he complained about male shrinkage and I posted on his message board a thread with a link to my poem, "Survival, An Amazing String!"

I love his shows as well and hope to see many more of them. I thank you very much for the compliments and this review. Mike
