Brooke,
This is an excellent poem, without any faults that I could find. Guess people are more complex than sunflowers, even if those blossoms have the better idea.

We traveled through the country for hours the last two days and I saw many farms with lovely sun flowers along the fence. Almost like majestic guards in a way. Too bad, as humans we don't learn the lessons that nature tries to show us. Life might be a little easier if we turned our heads toward the sky and our Lord's teachings. Marvelous!

Wouldn't it be wonderful if all of us turned our head to the our life source, but of course as human's we do not. Oh well. As for you, you once again did a wonderful job and I enjoyed reading.

Nature's wisdom, huh. We humans seem to be part of nature, and still, so against it... But sometimes so alike, as we are capable of creating beauty and perfection.
hehe, Like you ;)

Oh, Brooke, this is another of your wonderful flower poems and I specially like this one as I love sunflowers.
I usually grow a few in my garden by the fence, but this year we've had so much rain and too little sun. The plants managed to grow in a spindly way up to about eighteen inches, then they died. :(
Never mind. There's always next year!
Hugs and warm wishes

Yes, they really do need their sun - they would have all died in my neighborhood this summer too since in June we had weeks and weeks of nothing but gray skies and pouring rain. Thanks, Kat. Brooke :-)

Hi Brooke...this is a great cinqauin. I like your third line as it describes the sunflower turning to the sun. When I was walking yesterday I passed a yard that had many sunflowers all taller than me....what a sight...well done....blessings....chey

I am impressed once again as
so often before by the way you
bring a strong message with wisdom
to your poems. You are a true
philospher who sees what most will never
see in life and human emotions.

I'm not sure you got there with this one, Brooke.
I DID know that about sunflowers, but I don't think your form allowed you to adequately make the connection between us ignoring the sun or wanting it, and the sunflower.
I grant you, I'm ENORMOUSLY distracted right now, so maybe I didn't get it, but that's what I was left with.
Good piece, though.
