This is profound and so true.We seek peace for ourselves and long for world peace as well. Yet, even with all the wishing and trying it is still yet to happen.

Bless you

And it is yet to happen because too many people only ask for it but fail to do anything proactive about it! Thanks so much :-) Brooke

My goodness! How beautifully you combine idea and words to produce such a flower as this is. There really must be a way of getting your poetry noticed beyond the bounds of FS. Have you submitted to local newspapers or magazines? Would your church publish a spiritual poem in its bulletin? Peter

Thank you, Peter - I know I need to spend more time with the publication efforts. I hope you read the rondeaus I've written in the past three days - I am most proud of them. Brooke :-)

Beautifully written. Wonderful pace and flow. Rhyme was exactly on time.
Beautiful to look at too.
I liked this:
..."a place for hate within our lives."

It is either love or hate that fills a void.

Thank you
Razz

Brooke,

We, as individuals, can be instrumental in influencing our own lives and those of people close to us. But, through the ages, such emotions as anger, fear, envy, and greed replace peace with turmoil. Can this situation ever be turned around? Herein lies the need for prayer.

I think your triolet is just fine as modified, and would be just fine if not modified. Thanks for posting.

Duane

First of all I love the subject matter of your poem. Second it was a wonderful Triolet. I really enjoy these types of poems and think those who can pen them are amazing. You did an amazing job. Thanks for sharing.

Brooke

Thank you for reminding us that peace must first begin within our own hearts...If we can not find love and understanding, how can we possibly expect to find it in the world.

Well done! I loved your poem.

This is so true. We pray for peace in other places, not within ourselves. How different it would be if we each prayed and received an inner peace. There would be no reason to pray for peace anywhere else. joan marie

Joan Marie, thank you. You're right, in a world filled with people with inner peace, we wouldn't have people fighting each other at all! Brooke :-)

"We pray for peace but don't prepare
a place for peace within our lives,"

Oh, how so unfortunately true. This poem is quite philosophical in tone and has a very nice flow and construction to it.

I never thought of it quite this way. But its very true. Many of us give "lip service" to peace in the world and it the next breath talk with hate about "those people" Its as if we could "get rid" of the terrorist or the whoever, then we could have peace. Not seeing that the peace begins and ends with you and me.
