sherry,
you are so right, building sandcastles are very serious business. LOL especially if they come out just right. some people in california have it down to an artform.
love,
barbara

When you have a daughter and she is a "daddies girl" this kind of memory strikes a special cord deep within. That must have been a special time - may it always be a cherished memory.

Till the last amen

This is so much fun Sherry - making sandcastles.

Of course sometimes the dads get into the competitive spirit with each other over these projects too :)

All the best in the contest!

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my piece about the sandcastles. Going to the beach with my parents was always fun, but when Dad started building sandcastles it turned the day to great.

have a great afternoon - sherry

Afternoon Shelley - thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my sandcastle piece. Unfortunately, the sandcastles never lasted TOO long - even the big ones. They were quickly destroyed by either the incoming tide or rowdy kids. Fortunately, the memories have lasted longer than the actual structures ...

have a great day - sherry

What a magnificent memory to share with dad. Building beautiful sandcastles, a fairytale summer.

Good luck in the contest.

Sometimes building sandcastles were more fun than swiming or collecting seashells. I don't think I seen one as pretty as your image. Good luck in your contest.

Isn't that a lovely picture? Glad you liked it. I tried to find the actual picture I have somewhere of my dad kneeling in the sand with a spoon in his hand, trying to get everything "just right". Never was able to find it, so used this one instead. It was fun times ...

have a great afternoon - sherry

Those castles sure do look serious. They would have taken some time to do. Hope you had time for a swim as well. Good luck in the competition.

Afternoon - thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my little piece about the sandcastles. And yes, we played in the surf a bit, fished off of the pier and then went and had some of the best red snapper ever ... great memories.

have a great week - sherry

What a wonderful summer memory, sherry. In just a few well chosen words, you capture the intensity and fun of creating with Dad on a sunny summer beach. Who could ever forget anything as fine as that! I hope parents who are "too busy" to spend a bit of time engaged in play with their youngsters realize the seriousness of the endeavor and how much it means, life long, to the child and make time to make memories like this one.

Good work.

Magnificent looking sandcastles. And a fitting picture to couple with your intriguing six word story. I think we all have cherished memories of doing happy things with a parent. I hope so, anyway.

Afternoon Russel - thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my contest offering. Isn't that a great picture? Ours wasn't quite that elaborate, but it was close ... And the afternoon created a wonderful memory that is even more special now that my Dad is gone.

thanks again for reading - sherry

I just love this! And, yes, I remember the summer you're talking about. It WAS serious business! Even Dad had his tongue just so between his teeth to get it all right! Thanks for the smile and the memory, D

Glad you remember it - I sometimes wonder what I remember that you and Linny do not ... And yes, I remember Dad's tongue sticking out from between his teeth in intense concentration.

It was a great summer, wasn't it?

    hugs - sis
