A new twist on 'a diamond in the rough'. I wish you had written and sent me this poem when I was 19 and making really stupid marriage choices.
Great work.

Though no one artist was named, they deserve a "6" also! Perfect.
Your words were perfect, for those you will read them. Not every pearl is perfect (pearls of wisedom of words, a person, a relationship, etc...)But when the seeker find his/her perfect pearl, all the work disappears from memory. It brought to mind childbirth, no matter how long and painful the labor, after the baby in born, the mother rarely remember details of the pain and discomfort. The "Pearl" was worth it!

Well, besides being wonderful for giving me a six, you continue on your wonderful streak of understanding fully the meaning of my poems - I had lots of people respond to this one by telling me they think pearls are pretty. :-) God bless you :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke All the different forms of poetry that you handle so well. This one is very clever and the words show the regal pearl so well. Cheers Gaye

Poets astound me. It is a confession I shouldn't make, I'm sure. How can anyone pretend to write if they can't master the structure of poetry. Yet, there are so many variations and you are so adept. I simply admire your talent - even prefaced a recent review to another poet with a bow to you.

Hullo Adewpearl ....
In this short work, you have presented us with a delightful description of the worth of a genuine pearl.
Of course, there is nothing to suggest changing and I thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from ..... Nanette Mary.

What food for thought, Brooke. You make me consider 'pearls' I have looked for, driven by desire and the faith that I shall be successful. And, my end obtained, I count the effort expended as of no account. Thank you for sharing these thoughts. Peter

Peter, thank you for this perceptive review that perfectly captures the meaning I intended - quite a few people only commented on how pretty pearls are. Brooke :-)

Perhaps they'll grow - the people, not the pearls!

Hey brooke,
ah, yes, the pearl of great price. yes, i can see how all the trials & tribulations are forgotten once the pearl has been found. I wonder how many natural pearls are found nowadays.
thanks for sharing this thoughtful poem with us & the education.
smiles,
deb

Nicely written. You are a master of rhyme. I have a friend that writes rhyming poetry about childhood memories and he is so good at rhyme that it seems effortless - but I know it requires much effort not only in the rhyme, but in keeping it fresh.
Most often you give us a fresh look at the reflections you see in life.
Thank you for sharing.
++ iridescence rare revealed
++ he soon forgets the toil and time

Yes, rhyming is no walk in the park - almost anyone can rhyme, but doing it so it doesn't sound unintentionally funny or like a third grader wrote it is a whole other thing. LOL
Thanks so much. Brooke : -)
