I was scanning back over your work looking for what I may have missed when I was away. I was so touched by your honesty and insight in this piece that I had to respond. Thank you for sharing your cinquain and your reflections. The title, dramatic picture and colors highlighted your words perfectly. Your poem is liberating to all of us who struggle from time to time to find the right vehicle for our thoughts, and you even managed to include alliteration.

Hi Brooke Your right some thoughts and memories are just to special to put into words even for a fine poet like you. LOL Gaye

Excellent job. Somethings aren't meant to be written down. Maybe one day the words will come, maybe they never will. It doesn't really matter so long as you hold those memories close to your heart. ;)

Brooke, I know what you mean about not being able to put your feelings and thoughts into words. Sometimes there is so much to say yet we can't find the words to truly describe what we are feeling.

Hullo Adewpearl ....

Your Notes at the end tell the whole story which your carefully thought-about and well-chosen words in the Cinquain could not.
You are truly blessed to have such beautiful memories
of your dear Father whose hundredth birthday was yesterday.
My Father's 117th birthday is now just around the corner.
No matter how long it is since our loved-ones departed this mortal life, their immortal souls live on and, those who remain do well to remember their special days ... birthdays and anniversaries.
Thank you for sharing this with us. I like it very much.
With love from .... Nanette Mary.

There's deep emotion within your cinquain, and that's something I look for in poetry. After all, we all want to be moved in a profound (and hopefully uplifting) way. Your poem is a great homage to your father.

Hello Adewpearl

By the title I expected it to be a long poem filled with memoirs but its actually quite to the point. I can understand that with your simple, brief words, you can sum up everything about your father. Well done

Love the artwork -- the swirls echo the swirling thoughts. The poem is powerful in just a few words. You did a great job again, Brooke!

Take care,
Susan

adewpearl,
Great lesson--"it really is OK to be at a loss for well-chosen words". We do need to be reminded of that as we struggle. And coming from someone as prolific as you, it does mean more. Thanks. elaine
