Usually I really hate lines that begin with connective conjunctions as usually they weaken a piece of poetry, but in your poem they improve the overall piece nicely. Really good posting.

Very well done verse on "fighting on".
Loved the opening stanzas and thre repeat of" for I have my own battle cry":
There is an end to life for me
But my strength and will cannot die
The dark may wax
The light may wane
But I have my own battle cry
No cease in hope--no lying down
As victory in bleakness is nigh
When in the depths
I'll always rise
For I have my own battle cry
