What a lovely sentimental poem and a clever use of names of flowers which create a vivid scene. Such a great idea.
Thanks for sharing.

Only you, Booke, would take the extra effort to enhance something and make it so sublime! I enjoyed this rhyme and flow very much. A very creative piece, indeed! Judy

This is a wonderful love poem using the names of the "antique" flowers. The poem has the feeling of a 19th century statement also, very romantic based on nature itself.
I identify a bit. On our property line is a line of Bridal Veil bushes, and this fall I will plant a Franklinia tree. It was discovered by Thomas Bartram and named in honor of his chum, Ben Franklin. They are no longer growing in the wild.
Thank you for this piece of sheer goodness.

And now I know who is the real fairy at the bottom of your garden; I liked your poem and the research on kiss me over the garden gate was fascinating. What a wonderful world we live in and we never stop learning until the day we die. Thanks for sharing your insightful poem.

I enjoyed reading your clever and well written poem. The subject reminded me of a conversation I had with an elderly neighbor years ago. I asked her the name of the beautiful blooming bush in her yard. She thought for a moment and said "It's called a beauty bush." Great name.

Oh, Brooke...this one is such an educational experience in the exotic and sometimes strange names of flowers. "Kiss me over the garden gate" is actually the name of a flower? Fabulous work here. Great structure, rhythm and flow. A very beautiful work....Hugs and smiles, Susanne

Hi, Brooke, I am blocked from bestowing any more sixes on you this month, but this poem deserves it. Actually, I think that almost every time I open one of your poems. I love the old fashioned lilt to the language, and that each verse addresses a cherished part of courtship and marriage. Beautifully done. Mary
