I always thought that was a strange little poem. "Fly away home, your house is on fire..." Nice message. Thanks for sharing.

It is a peculiar poem, but it gave me a good reason to write this! LOL Thanks so much, Brooke :-)

Brooke...

You write from the heart not from the rule book and that is why every one loves your poems so much.

This one is very cute and I do remember the little song. Maybe we all should take heed and slow down and appreciate what we have.

Thanks for sharing. Carol

A wonderful poem--it doesn't matter if it broke the rules a little bit. The picture is amazing, a perfect combination with the poem. Great job.

Another lovely poem, Brooke. You know much more than I about the various types of poetry, but I do so enjoy reading yours, whatever name you put to them. Eight syllables in each line makes it easy to read. I like the sing-songy effect. You help us to realize we must take time to enjoy what we have. And where did you find that picture? It's absolutely perfect! Lastly, you talk about the ladybug's life being brief, but ours are too, aren't they?

The picture is from the sister site fanart - they have terrific stuff available for writers here to use for free :-) Thanks so much. Brooke :)

We'll called the poem a pearl. LOL I enjoyed this poem and felt it was well done. I also enjoyed the reference to the solitary lady bug.

I was camping at the cove point lightshouse and there was an explosion of them. That also happened on time in the house and one by one, each one was rescued and put outside.

Brooke, I enjoyed your "what ever you call it" poem. LOL Sometimes it's nice to just sit and write and not worry about the rules. Loved it. Joyce

Yet another 6 that has to settle for a 5! (Don't know if I'll ever learn to save at least one). Don't we all "need to savor life's bouquet"? So much beauty and so little time... The art is perfect and certainly enhances the poem. I love poems like this, that put an exclamation point next to a small pleasure! May we all learn to savor all that comes our way.. later and God bless, shy

Calling the poem "Whatever you wish", doesn't make sense in that the poem is about a Lady Bug. Darned Lady Bug get a move on maybe, or the Lady Bug is pokey, but Whatever you wish just doesn't fit. You should come up with something else. Although I did have the respetto for dinner at the Olvie Garden tonight. It may have even been in the first and third course. mstad55

My children and their spouses both all love Olive Garden. I will have to ask them if they ever order the rispetto :-) Thanks, Mike : -) Brooke

Tut, tut, tut! You broke the rhyme scheme? Shame on you, LOL! This is wonderful Brooke. I love the up-beat tone and I just adore the title with its wonderful alliteration, Lovely Little Lady Bug. I especially love the last lines:

We folks who bid you fly away
need learn to savor life's bouquet.

This is just too cute. Now I'm going to surprise you by admitting I don't know the nursery rhyme you're speaking of. I thought I knew every one in existence, LOL. Wonderful poem, as usual.

Hugs

Roisin

You are the dozenth person - I honestly believed it was as common as Mary had a little lamb, but apparently I'm wrong. Thanks so much for your great review :-) Brooke

This is a sweet and cute little ode to a child's favorite bug, Brooke. I've read that there are a lot more of them than usual this year, but apparently nobody knows why. I like your poem. You are very good at this sort of thing.

Sally, I had not heard they were in extra supply this year - that should make gardeners happy as well as children and the young at heart : -) Thanks, Brooke
