This is beautiful.
What a fabulous tribute to both John McCrae's poem and to those who have sacrificed their all for our freedoms.

The presentation is lovely, Brooke.
Very nice haiku.

Very touching and heartfelt, as usual! Strange timing, I just posted a poem with a picture of poppies I took up north this weekend! Is it true? You really remember all these dates? I know I use a day calendar of important books each day. Tell me the truth, you google important events each day? Right? LOL

Deb, thank you!! Yes, there are days on which I'm not particularly filled with things to write about, and then I go to the Wikipedia page for that date, which lists birthdays, death anniversaries, holidays and historical events for the day. I've written a bunch of poems because something important or fascinating happened on that day. Brooke :-)

On my desk at school, I had a daily calendar of book of the day. It was great fadder for writing! Glad to know your human! LOL

This color really POPS out of the computer screen. If I wasn't awake before, I am now. :) Gorgeous and so appropriate for a haiku about poppies.

You have obviously chosen these words with care. I'm drooling with envy over your ability to unify a poem through the careful placement of sounds: f (florid, flowed, freedom, fresh), b (bloom, blood), m (bloom, freedom, memorials) (okay, so I'm not actually drooling over my keyboard, but you know what I mean)

I like the idea of the new life of the flowers springing up from the ground that once flowed with blood. Wonderful memorial to these soldiers: the flowers have broken free from the ground, and now live as a testimony to the soldiers' courage.

I can't see any need for revisions. You obviously make sure the syllable count is correct for whichever form you are using (thank goodness!)

Beautiful. LK

Well, I'm glad you're awake - now I can wish you a happy first day of summer! LOL I'm also glad you're not actually drooling because that would be quite unattractive, Laura. :-D
Thank you for your comments about the letter sounds since that is one of my little trademark things that I work really hard on :-) Brooke

Poppies are such cheerful flowers and they represent such a serious subject. Your poem is reflective of this. Each poppy that blooms IS a memorial to a lost soldier. Excellent, as usual. Blessings, Linda

Dear ADEWPEARL;
You have said in 11 words what most cannot express in a lifetime. John would have been proud of you, and maybe even a little envious to be able to say so much of what was felt in so few words.
When my Daddy died I buried my years of collected 'poppies' with him.
Thanks for sharing and also for the 'insight'.
Sincerely,
Womanwriter

Excellent Haiku, and beautiful picture! I enjoyed the read and the picture, both brought me fond memories of those days, and seeing the soldiers selling the poppies on the streets at home. Good write. Sharon

Thank you, Sharon. They still sell them each year where I live. Some of the old Vets selling are so old. Brooke :-)

We all are....Some of us hold our age better than others. I thought we all looked pretty good for being an eternity old already. Those little old men are in disquise. They don't want to be mobbed by all those pretty young thangs! Lol Sharon

Lovely; and the presentation is striking - I like how the words are almost belittled by the large picture and powerful red background; it brings the significance to the flower whilst your words echo.

Well done :)

Thank you for the list of pics and the kind review, my friend - this review should have been answered days ago and ended up buried, instead, beneath other, newer reviews. I am so sorry! Brooke :-)
