Hi Brooke Thank you for your septolet, it shows so much in the words. Excellent choice of artwork and a reminder of the tragic loss of lives. LOL Gaye

You remember a heroine who didn't know she was. She was just a young woman trapped by man's hatred. She was so close to being liberated but instead was liberated through death. I'm so glad you comment on the people who should be our hero's, rather than actors and singers who are just so much about nothing.

Yeah, I've never quite understood about how having the ability to throw a ball into a metal hoop qualifies one for anything other than a place on the high school team :-) Thanks, Brooke :-)

Hullo Adewpearl ....

What you have written in just 14 words is a worthy miniature of what you have explained in your informative Notes at the end.
Anne Frank was just 3 months and 1 week younger than me and, having read, in various sources, about her life,
I have thought of how she might have been growing old at the same pace as I am doing - our dates of birth being so close. In one place, I read that she had fallen in love before she died. That is rather special.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
With love from .. Nanette Mary.

Nanette Mary, thank you. Yes, she at least had a big crush on a boy hiding with her family before their capture. She was only 14, but I'm sure it was love to her. That must make her so much more real to you, being so close in age. Brooke

Reading these poems of yours is breking my heart! I believe however, that is your intention. TO bring to light such injustice that perhaps our hearts will break enough to ensure it is not repeated! Grea job! Love the photo! ~:O) J

Dreams dashed to ashes. I remember reading the story of Anne Frank in school when I was about the same age she was when she died. I was reminded what the cost of our freedom was. The war was still fresh in my history lessons. Also I was a boomer, my brother had been born in 1943, while the war raged across Europe. So many died because they were Jews - but many others died because they resisted or opposed the Nazis. Anne Frank made the plight of all who died real to me. She was just a girl with dreams that were dashed to ashes. Rose.

Rose, thank you for your most thoughtful notes - yes, just a girl with dreams who gave voice to millions of voiceless people :-) Brooke

This was such a horrible time in history. It is amazing that a 15 year old girl that never reached adulthood could have had such an inpact on the world. Everyone knows the name Anne Frank. I wonder what she would have become if she had lived. She had such spirit.

Beth, what is even more amazing is that millions more like her died in this war - how many of them, whom we will never know about personally like we know her, would have been inventors, leaders, mothers of doctors, singers - the possibilities are endless. Thanks so much, Brooke

Beautifully written. Sad truth behind it. The artwork goes well with this writing. I enjoyed reading it very much. The words worked well together. Well done :-)

Awww... That's sad. I never knew how Anne Frank died. But I wonder if she had lived would her diary have done what it did. She served a good purpose in writing that. Beautiful poem with excellent word choices.
