I like the metaphor of the feathers to the writers in the site. I must say I have feathers and crumbs of bread all over the house...waiting to be bring out to life. Your poem is deep, honest and loving. Wishing you many feathers.

Amazing piece of poetry, Mike. As writers, we sure want the approval from others, but we do write to please ourselves first, huh? I forget that sometimes. But if one reader stopped and said "wow"...it sure makes writing so rewarding. Lovely images in your words and I so loved the feather references throughout the poem and the different meanings they have for your writings.

"Wow! " Is flattering but it is great that when reading a review; it goes beyond the wow to really know when you have touched someone deep down. That is why, I think it is best to make this site the first place to release a work.

I thank you very much for your compliments and this review.

Your poem is well narrated Mike, knowing you better now, I could follow what you meant to say. Your author notes also helped to clear some points. We do write because of a feeling and need within us, not mainly for others, and I believe that is how it should be.
I like this free style writing that gives more space to express one's thoughts.

I like that, there is something deep down in a true writers phyche that keeps us going. To me the reward isn't in the compliments, but sharing and also learning to look deeply at life in a positive fashion or using the negative to steer it back.

I like creating poems that hold mutliple meanings and uses words to create a painting.

I enjoyed this review and thank you for it and the compliments.

Woo hoo! Viva the feathers and friends! It is like asking a rose bush not to bloom to ask yourself not to write isn't it? I empathize and am most terrified of what I most want to do ... write! I love your story and your feathery message from the universe. Great job.

"I would have to do this alone, I knew,
a feather came to me with every lonely thought.
With that poem, bearing accolades only other people threw,
a dinner fleetingly enjoyed in a coy reversal wrought."
very nicely done my friend. Bravo. Emily Dickinson once said, "Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul" I've always loved that quote and feathers!

Must it cackle within the rib cage so much? LOL I really enjoyed this review and love the quote. Many thanks, Mike

That is a special stanza to me as I wonder if strings weren't pulled to make a love come true. That thought added to my shame of having to default on the gift. It was just as much a great thing that the second part came true as most of the feathers found at that time were in my pining that I would be alone. Despie the way that things seemed to be working out, a beautiful dinner was shared and enjoyed. Well at least the sight of it. The regret was that I knew that even if not as percieved, that sharing was to continue, not the starve squeltching that happened.

Yet no matter what, I fit into a certain plan that is expected of me. Have a great week ahead! Mike

if A Gossimer Trail Of Encouragement could come from those feathers as your poem suggest i would always have on hand a bushel of them at my side, and so i think the image of the feather carries huge suggestion.

The horrible things is those feathers as much like ghostly occurences, you try to calculate in the fact that coincidience plays a part, yet the more either of which occures more, the less coicidience plays a part. LOL

I thank you for this review, as I always enjoy your compliments. Mike

Mike, this is somewhat on the weird side, but that's what Fanstory is all about. That's what so great about Fanstory; we can be ourselves and share even our most innermost thoughts without fear of retribution (except for the petty ones who give 2's and 3's because they don't like what you say). Hang in there and don't give up. Take care, pat

I think the weirdness is in raising a question to one's self and then looking down and finding a feather. Then you look all the time and there are a few around, but trapped off to the side. Then the next thought... Yikes

No I promise that I won't give up. I love wrapping multiple meanings with a single poem. I thank you for this reveiw and the compliments. Mike

A great poem full of self reflection and discovering your writing self. I believe writing is a great form of therapy and the most important writing we create is for ourselves.
well done, my friend.

A very telling poem, I am glad that you didn't give up writing. Once you start it is like a hunger that never stops. You would be back. The poem is lovely.

I see it not only as a challange, but also a gift and its reward is in doing, providing you maintain a positive disposition. Rewards come in many different ways. Thank you very much for the compliments and this review. Mike

Oh, the conumdrum of to write or not to write; a daily battle for some of us. Your flawless elocution of pondering the question, has offered me encouragement and insight to my own way of thinking. Your creativeness is nothing short of brilliant.

"Your flawless elocution of pondering the question, has offered me encouragement and insight to my own way of thinking." -I promise to still remain humble after that compliment. The last half of the statement is what a poetic writer wants to hear.
